i understood it that he arranges a garage to take it to the check.......?
Mine wanted to replace the headlamps (or do a temporary swap) and they were stopped in their tracks when we realized that EU headlamps would not fit the car. It passed regardless.
1. You don't fill in anything, it is eventually filled in during the expertise check.
2. No.
Thanks everyone for the info, the process was very smooth.
Anybody could probably advise on where could I buy a frame for the swiss license plates, so that I can attach them on the car? OBI? Migros? A garage?
(I've tried searching for these terms in EF, but no result... Guess I'm using the wrong key words)
Thank you.
Browsing through this thread i am looking for different specific piece of advice, my situation is as follows:
I brought an Audi from Dubai (EURO 5 spec, 2012 model) in May of this year as part of my household goods (hence i have the customs form and declared it so was exempt from taxes etc.). I organized a private insurance company who was willing to insure me for a year on foreign (in this case Dubai) plates I have not yet gone to the Swiss authorities to apply for Swiss plates for obvious benefits on driving on Dubai plates (no road tax and no fines )))) However, it looks like i might leave the country again within the next 6 months and i would like to sell the car here when i leave to capitalize on the higher value of the car in CH My question is as follows:
Apparently there is a one year period in which you cannot sell the car when it is imported under the personal household goods to avoid increase parallel trade Does anybody know if this from the point of the actual importation of the car at customs (so in May this year) or from the actual date of transfer from foreign plates to Swiss plates (which i havent done for reasons mentioned above). Any experience or clarity on this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
S
" Vehicle owned for more than six months
However, you will not have to pay any import duty whatsoever, as long as you do not sell your car within the first 12 months following its import to Switzerland."
Any idea where i could find a clear confirmation on this point? The customs office?
Be warned - I know of cases where they ignore the value you purchased the vehicle for - and simply looked up on Autoscout for similar models - resulting in far higher import costs - MWST and Duty
For the record, I was due to import a trailer (car transporter type) - following investigation it is deemed too difficult/costly to do so.
