Iphone 5c or 5s [Release Date in CH]

Two European internet users arguing about Chinese cell phone build quality financed by an American conglomerate with more cash than the US Government.

That's globalization for you :-)

probably I dont remember correctly, but the 32GB iphone 5s was 1050 CHF on digitec, and now it is 950 CHF, so only 50 CHF more than it will be at apple. Also I saw digitec gives 2 year warranty. How is that? I remember apple giving only 1 year warranty..

All warranties are 2 years now in Switzerland, they've changed the OR

You say this but when my wife got her HTC one from Orange there was a generic sheet of paper saying that iPhone and iPads only have a one year warranty!

I don't have the letter to hand but I was quite surprised by this

Edit: http://www.orange.ch/residential/hel...icid=search_s1

Thanks dawiz. I still see 1 year on apple website for CH.

Do you know if I have any problems in the future, can I go to apple store or it need to go through digitec?

Thanks

that must have been before the 1st of January 2013

you can go through Apple - I've done that before with a grey-market import from Digitec.

Wrong. If you read the warranty information from apple.ch for iphone you will see that, if you did not buy it from Apple, Apple provides warranty for the first year and for the second year you need to contact the retailer.

The same info is in English at apple.co.uk:

http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

Call Apple and they will tell you the same thing.

Apple will tell you all kinds of crap when it comes to "Garantie" and "Gewährleistung". The matter of the fact is that while the OR now calls the warranty "Gewährleistung", that's not the same thing as what Germany has (1 year of warranty and 1 year of Gewährleistung). In the end, Apple will have to accept Swiss law and that clearly says you get a 2 year warranty on everything.

We'll see next year whether Apple decides to behave or whether they'll get sued again here like they did in Italy. I just called the hotline before and they even have a recorded message now before you get connected to an AppleCare specialist telling you that you get a full two-year warranty on all devices purchased in the EU And Switzerland (if you don't believe me, just call).

According to the OR, you have a contract with the shop where you bought the device and not with Apple. Strictly speaking, you'd always have to go through the shop. Apple prefers dealing with the customers directly, however.

ps: cdcdoc - do you work for Apple? You've been reciting the same kind of brain-washed mumbo-jumbo the Apple Store geniuses will tell you

I did (got an iMac that needs to be repaired) and they didn't..

I do not work for Apple but I provide facts. You have a problem with people having a different opinion and offend like a spoiled child. You call people ridiculous or fanboy-ish and yet you fail to provide one single fact but your opinions. Grow up and learn how to have an argument and prove your opinions. It is one thing to say that, for example, an Iphone 5c is ugly (preference) and another thing to contradict laws. I cannot afford to tell people to listen to my opinion if it is not based on a fact. So mind your language.

Edit: of course you groan...it is what you do when people do not agree with you...actually the guy who asked about the warranty should ignore "the crap" from apple and should listen to you because you are the norm!
