The annoying this is I'd pay for some of these channels happily but they're just not all available.. Sure I can get some of the discovery channels on swisscom but in German or with a bunch of other crap I don't want.
Hey ho .. I'll hold off changing and see what happens in the cat and mouse game.
The Swisscom service also offers all those advantages (well I dunno about the Smart TV) and does work outside CH, as long as you're prepared to wait until any given program has finished ( Takes about five minutes.) and watch it on the replay function. Costs a bit more, I think, but it's pretty much seamless either through the app or the dedicated TV box.
Having said that, there are a lot of channels not covered, but the only ones I'd be interested in are via Sky subscription (for F1 and cricket) so are tightly controlled and unlikely to be reliably available on any of the 'dodgy' operators previously referred to.
You would be wrong. Literally any channel you could want and more on a good IPTV subscription. That's why they have put so much manpower into seizing these servers.
I have a MAG254 (think that's the number). It's ready to be thrown out of the window.. I dunno if it's related to the recent shutdown of services but it now freezes frequently, just changing channel for example, black screen and unresponsive remote, only option is to pull the power out.
I have two IPTV services and same behaviour from both..
Looking for another box to try that.. The official MAG firmware now detects illegal streams and blocks them so something other than MAG that doesn't do that.
I’m not using mag box, just using Iptv app on my Samsung tv. But my service via Iconic Streams hasn’t fully come back yet. I get UK free view but nothing else. Really weird.
Has anyone used the Iptv app before? It’s asking me to pay £5 for it now which is super cheap but I’m wondering if it’s the app and not the provider that is making the problem now as Sky does seem to work on my laptop ok via Iconic Streams.
It's one of those grey areas, but the fact that no one seems to be prepared to share provider details in public posts here, as well as some of the actions described above, is enough to put it firmly in the 'dodgy' category.
Wouldn't stop me doing it in principle, mind, just like I used to use a UK Sky subscription, and BitTorrent (before it was so firmly stepped on as to become virtually useless) but I'm not happy with the idea of paying for an illegally sourced streaming service that may disappear at any time.
One of the providers is a few posts above .. IPTV.shop and the poster is happy with it.. There are thousands, the one with rave reviews might be shut down tomorrow, some un-heard-of provider might last years. Plus mine might be good for me on my hardware and crap you on yours.
Cost wise, it's the price of a Big Mac for a months service. Personally I can live with losing it if it gets busted, just get another provider. I tend to sign up for 3 months..
But hey, keep in mind it's the provider who gets busted, be careful with your payment details, know what you're getting, don't expect a refund.. then it's great.
I agree. One needs to manage your expectations. I had a year of service with my last guy for £50. There were some problems at times but I'd be paying sky that and more per month for the same thing. I like sports....just not that much...
I switched to someone else because I had a free trial and the quality was better and the app was faster and then the servers got seized. He's got a new app now but I've not had time to install it. But I was quite pleased this provider hasn't just run away with my money. If he did, then it's only £60 down the drain. Hardly the end of the world.
Iconic Streams is working fine now on my laptop via VLC player but the Smart IPTV app is rubbish on my Samsung TV. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to put an IPTV on smart tv without buying extra devices? already got a chromecast and just forked out for a new TV so don't want to spend more on a service that might go down soon. I cant figure out why it wont work on the TV but the laptop version is fine.
I just bought a formuler z8 .. It's really nice interface, instant fast switching channels etc.. I only use it for ITPV but apparantly capable of a lot of other stuff too being android.
