Hello, we finally got our golden letter to become a Suisse. We made an appointment to take photos for our passport and ID in Lausanne. The officer asked us for C permits; we told him that we have mailed back to the immigration office. Then he said we must present our original passports in order to get Suisse passport. We were not aware of it and don’t want to give up our old passport yet. Has any one had similar experience? How did you deal with the submitting old passport requests?

Yes it’s normal. They don’t keep your original passport they just need to see it to verify your identity.
They are not going to keep them, they just need proof of ID. Normally you take your permit and they keep those - but as you randomly sent them back for some reason you need to provide alternative ID.
In Neuchâtel the naturalisation certificate is accompanied by a letter requesting that the C permits be handed in at the commune so people no longer have those to take along to the biometric appointment.
As with so many things here it varies from canton to canton.
Mine got taken off me at passport appointment, then the Gemeinde asked me to return it so they can’t even get their act together within the same canton!!
You are not bringing your original passport in order to become Swiss, you are bringing your original passport in order to get your Swiss passport. You can't get your Swiss passport until you are already Swiss!
We have our first interview this Wednesday. We have to bring our (British) passports and C permits to that!

I don't believe they will keep your original passports but if they did you could just order replacements.
Dual citizenship is allowed in Switzerland, nobody is going to take anybody's passports!
