I'm on a B permit and quit a job in CH recently, planning to casually browse for new jobs and take some holidays in between before starting another one. Is it required to report to RAV even though I don't wish to collect any benefits? When I contacted to them they claimed they require me to come in and report on job applications either way, and that I will not be able to travel and have to be immediately available for work.

This is a serious question yall! Well I have asked them to cancel the process and they have done it after all. Probably a misunderstanding.
Based on your location tag, it appears you are a citizen of a third state... so it depends on when your permit was issued and if you can avail of the post BREXIT agreement or not.
No you do not need to sign up with RAV if you don’t want money. However if you don’t have an income, at some point your permit may be at risk.
