Good luck!
Thanks for that. Heās sure something will turn up but Iām resigned to the fact we might be going home as Iāve lost any motivation for the time being and am not sleeping well.
I think the main reason he would not be keen to contract for his current employer is the loss of employee rights - having to go back to no paid sickness or holiday, having to cover the accident part of his health insurance etc.
Seems he had the kibosh put on him by a manager based in London who doesnāt even know him or what he does, he just decided OHs salary was too expensive. Itās made him feel like sh1t tbh, had we known all this before the end of last year weād have had a game plan organised well in advance instead of having to come up with one in a matter of a few weeks. Employee relations advanced his case up the chain, but he never heard back from anyone.
Thatās life as they say!
had we known all this before the end of last yearā¦
Thatās the essential skill of current times, you have to push-pull communication to be always well informed. Donāt rely on someone tipping you all the time up-front.
My teammates are quite stressed about job security since last ~2 years, Iād say. My boss started looking for a house in rural areas (that is, an early retirement home plan B). Itās all obvious that nobody feels confident in keeping the job long term.
Unfortunately OH was actually told by his line manager and another manager everything was in place for his job to be ongoing beyond retirement age, but he wouldnāt get any official paperwork to sign regarding his contract extension until February (HR Department dealing with it is based in Poland). He was constantly communicating and asking questions from about November onwards and this year asked for a meeting with those part of the decision process who were above his LM as he wanted to negotiate for himself but this was met with a flat refusal.
Anyway, heās now got a few irons in the fire re other work but doesnāt want to act on them until after he reaches his official retirement date of the 31st. He finishes up next week but has holiday to take.
ouch, I see, thatās she dark side of any corporation, at each line of command information is sized down to āneed to knowā only
