if you like the car, buy it
but i wouldn't choose a man that drove one.
it is a girls car - high maintenance...
if you are choosing a car to get a girl, think about the kind of girl you want.
Do you want something classy, something practical, something built like a brick shlt house, something delicate...
and think about what might happen the first time you drive each other around the bend.
Best to turn up on your first date in a Fiat 500. Then you'll really know what she thinks of you.
The other train of thought is of course - the size of a mans car is inversely proportional to... god, what was it again?
and old boss of mine used to have an austin healey.
*deeper sigh*
my sister had an MG.. it just says your bwitish.
most woman couldn't give a toss what you drive, those that do probably wouldn't be impressed by what you think they would be
and any woman that turns there nose up at you because you drive x,y or z has given you a lucky escape
A friend has an original factory racing 3000 - which forms part of his automotive based pension.
i like motorbikes
mate, THAT is something i'd REALLY like to see!
The reason I put up the question is that back home in India (where i lived till 4 years ago) it is certainly not considered a girls car. I looked at some US SLK forums - and most owners of the R171 (SLK200) seemed to be men. Also, my budget is limited by the insurance claim I got on my old car which was 'totalled' a few months ago - so AMG / Jaguar / MAserati etc etc are beyond my means.
This whole issue came up because the seller - a woman BTW - asked me "Don't you think it is a bit feminine?" not a marketing managers dream seller .
Any way, to me the fact that it is currently used by a woman makes me feel that it will have been used 'delicately'. The fact that it is a Merc made in DE implies well built / reliable (i have read mixed reviews abt high maintenance). The fuss free hard top makes it an 'all year round vehicle'.
Last but not the least, now that there's just the two of us - my son and I - we don't really need a family car.
Plus it's in white - a colour I've always wanted on my cars, but was tooo impractical in India
I go to see the car this Friday - hope it works out.
keep in mind that if it is a feminin choice that it is probably a tasty choice !!
In any case, i've always been a bit of an 'enfant terrible' - so i'll just follow my heart. And yes, considering the 'size' of the car, atleast i wont face comments re 'phallic complexes'
PLUS.. I'm not buying a Jag, so that's something :-)
