Jack Russell attacked by Eagle?

Well having a dog the size of a camel does have disadvantages too..you might get killed "playing" (rubs her bruised leg)

In a word...Wrong. But you are allowed an opinion I suppose...

Dont agree! We have a cat and a 2 year old Jack Russell. They both get along really well and the cat is def the boss out of the two! Our dog is right at the bottom of the pecking order and he knows it. My 9 year old daughter and many friends have never had a problem with him at all and neither have me or my husband.

Yes he is small as he is a short legged dog, but we do not have a huge house or mammoth garden to house a bigger dog and i love the breed. Plus our daughter loves small dogs.

Our dog does also not bark unless we tell him too. I hate dogs barking and pulling on leads sounding like they are choking to death!! we spent a lot of time training our dog.

He is a joy to have and so was my other Jack Russell dog i had for 16 years with also no problems.

If they are looked after and trainined properly most dogs will be fantastic. JRT do believe they are 10ft tall sometimes though...

Problem is I'm 1.87m or 6ft 2 in old money, i'd be dragging the thing around it's about the same size as my feet. Would never work for me.

It's the constant yapping from these type of breeds that does my head in. Perhaps they have more to say than bigger dogs? The trained ones are not the problem.

On the aggressive point in the past they have run up to my ankles snapping and snarling, what do you thing my obvious response should be to the annoying little thing at my ankles. Haha of course ignore it, but the thought does go through your head.

JRs? - greatest little dogs in the world!

When I was a child my father had a Jack Russell who was an absolute pain although adorable. He would escape every day and go "walkies" with sightings in various areas of up to about 4 miles. Everyone knew him but if you wanted to try and grab him - heaven help you !!

My father moved about a mile away and we lived for a while in the old family home. Every other day we would open the front door and he would be sitting outside waiting on the step and we had to call my father to drive around and collect him

Do your bit for Switzerland and get one of these cute dogs...they can also be used for mountain rescue at the weekends.

So you were the idiot on the A31 that morning all those years ago - the morning of the multiple pile-up...

I can see why JRTs arent very popular with many people - and that sadly, is a huge misperception, as with pitbulls, rottweilers, alsatians etc. All dogs, if not stimulated enough and handled with less than a firm hand are yappy, aggressive and restless. Sure, there are certain breed traits that are programmed into their DNA (bulldogs are fighters, terriers are diggers, beagles are ruled by their noses) its up to the owner to find out as much as they can about the breed, and be creative in channeling those characteristics of the breed into constructive activities. I cant say this enough: its not the dog. Its the owner.

I've always wondered what it would be like to see my dog get snatched up and carried away by an eagle. Talk about emotionally confusing. I'd alternate between being completely dumbfounded by what just happened, sad that my doggie will probably never been seen again, and "Holy crap, I just saw an eagle hunt, this is awesome!"

Imagine seeing it from the dog's point of view.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where's my master going?! I'm afraid of heights! Nooo. Cold up here and something stings.

*five minutes later*

This is fun, I can get used to this. Ah, he's setting me down. Oh, look at the cute little birdies, maybe they'll want to play."
