Seriously the rental market in Zurich is nuts. Eveytime I go for a viewing there are like 15 other people with me. I have been to countless viewing, sent countless applications. Not a single reply. Been here for 2 months already and haven’t been able to find long term rental.
Amateur. Whine when you have 3 to 4 hundred people in front of you and you are 15 months into your search.
i posted a nice 2 1/2 room apartment in Adliswil.... just saying
Also several on offer here
Oh. Didn’t know this forum has a marketplace. Gonna ckeck it out. Thanks.!
You haven't said exactly where you are looking or what your budget is but the fact remains that you are probably going to have to look further afield to find a place within your budget.
Compromising on area is indeed possible. Exceeding your budget is not.
If your short term housing is for a fixed period you would be well advised not to waste any more time chasing the impossible.
Good luck!
@OP: When you refer to Zurich, do you mean the Kanton or the City? If you mean the city then yeah, it's in high demand. But to be honest there are plenty of good options surrounding the city. I live 10km from the city centre and ride an e-bike to work...for that we rent a house for about the same price as a 4.5 room apartment in Zurich.
I lived in Dietikon for 10 years. Not the most attractive of towns but great access to Zurich and plenty of rental properties. It would be a foot in the door.
I have had to find replacement tenants for a couple different flats in the city over the last few years. (And have successfully found my own, although not easy) From my observations, the person who gets the apartment is usually:
1.one of the first people to visit
2. Emails their completed application to the landlord immediately after visiting. Or even started the process before the visit.
3. Calls the landlord and politely follows up with how much they LOVE the place.
