Just found an awesome new Barber shop in Zürich... old-skool but cool (and cheap)!

That's Richdog!

Indeed. I didn't notice the website lists Winterthur within the contact details.

Also, great communication from Sunchaser coming forward with the info.

Yes, and I'm sure some even go lower, but I think the amazing bit here is that Richdog has found that rare gem that is great service at a low price. Now THAT is something to start a thread about.

Clearly, it has more to do with nimcompoos not knowing where to go. I know of 3 barbers in Kreis 4 who charge 25Chf and where the service is excellent. 2 of them even have ladies coming by selling empanadas. Surely, it doesn't take too much effort to find such a barber...simply wander off the beaten path and avoid barbers in prime locations.

The amazing thing is that Richdog actually found something he liked! Mods, put a sticky on this one.

Is it old school like Italian barbers?

How about his straight razor skills

They don't use straight razors anymore...most barbers have a shavette.

Yup, and having been here so long I know it's not always easy to find that balance, especially with hairdressers/barbers in Switzerland. Sure you can go to numerous other places and pay 25chf, and I am sure there are some good barbers among them, but I can only speak for a good local barber I have found that I had a very positive experience with both in terms of character and haircut for a very good price that I feel I can recommend to others. Thats all there is to it, and whether people want to check it out or not is up to them.

i go here - its a flat 25CHF.

very central and convenient

There is a reason for why some barbers charge only 25 francs per haircut. We have to keep in mind that barbershops are public spaces that offer services to a large number of people on a daily basis. And some of these people may be suffering from scalp fungus or other infections that not even they are aware of. So, with this in mind, it is important to note that around 80 percent of barbers don't disinfect their tools in-between their usage. When it comes to infection, just changing the razors blade isn't close to being enough, and people can get infected if the scissors, clippers, or trimmers aren't properly sterilised after every haircut.

The price difference here is solely about each client's health-related safety. Now, of course, our personal hygiene and health are up to each and everyone of us, and if some people are willing to risk it for less money, nobody can really stop them. Think of the price difference here at Prostige Express Barbershop as a sort of insurance that you won't leave with more than you asked for. With something that may end up costing you far more than you would have paid otherwise.

CHF 25 and he even offered you a beer?! Sounds like a good deal to me, definitely need to check it out. Thanks!

Can I just stop by for a much needed cut? Or are appointments suggested?

I just randomly stopped by, but why not call and ask if they can accommodate an appointment? I will also be interested to know if it can be done.

Do you have their phone number? I only found the one for the Winterthur place under the same owners---or my search ability is lacking today.

Hy ya'll

No appointments needed.

Just drop by and if the chair is taken just wait for your turn

IF an appointment is needed then it can be done but only on Mondays, Tuesday or Wednesday

Great! I'll swing by today--not sure when I can get off work, or how the transit timing is, so I'll do a drop-in!

I don't know about haircuts but your English is perfect!

Well. I'm trying go give my best

In everything that is!

Went this week - while waiting at least three people popped by looking for an cut - so if popularity is a measure of success... well, they're doing well

From my side, I'll be going back.
