Kindergarten cutoff date

My son is born in september and for him I am glad that he gets an extra year in the nursery I feel he needs this to be more confident, socially and command of the language too.. saying that my other son is 6 now and just finished enfantine 2.. he was only 4 when he started and he has coped well but he is very confident and picks things up quickly too also having experienced some uk schooling beforehand it made sense to go to enfantine 1 instead of garderie. I was always one the the youngest and there were so many times at school i wished i was one of the older ones some of my friends were nearly 1 year older.. but saying that now im glad i was one of the younger

I know how you feel because my daughter is born in October and being a very independent little girl, I was wondering a few months back whether I should look into this.

Then I realized, as others have said, that she would be not even 4, with some kids close to 5 and that is HUGE and would definitely put her at a disadvantage.

Plus, I find that at this age, they swing from being "grown up" to a toddler-ish behaviour quite regularly-not something that would be accepted at Kidsgi.

So what I did is I signed her up for the Forest Krippe 1 day a week, to give her something new and stimulating for her last yr at Krippe, plus we will start Swimclasses.

I think this will give the right balance of more stimulating activities, whilst at the same time, letting her be a "baby" for 1 more yr.

By the way: I would start preparing your child for the friends leaving, and also discuss at the Krippe how they plan to keep him interested and stimulated? We had this discussion and it was good to know that they are aware and have a plan.

Lastly: apart for my and others opinion, I really think you have close to zero chances of him being accepted early. One reason is he is out of the special cutoff (May-June-July) and the second reason is it is way too late as the classes have been made already. You would also need to sign him off krippe or pay the 3 months notice period. (I know the monetary is not what is driving you but just mentioning the process)

Cheers,

K
