Here is a link to a website with lots of dictionaries for dictionaries. I use the germna-english one for the kindle keyboard and works good. just move the cursor to the word u want translated and the translation comes up at the bottom of the screen.
Hope this helps people...
The Amazon.com store would not let me buy any cases or covers from the US site though, so I had to find what was available on Amazon.de. They have a much more limited selection, but I was still able to find something nice that also has reviews on the English site.
I downloaded Calibre and tried out putting a few books on my iPhone via the Stanza app in the mean time. It seems like it works out well, so I think it should be a good fit when the kindle comes.
I am still not sure how the NZZ sub will work, but it is available on the English site, so that's why I thought it's possible to have: http://www.amazon.com/Neue-Z%C3%BCrc.../dp/B004PGMLIE
Otherwise, thanks for the suggestion of using two Amazon accounts to download books and add them to Calibre. That should work well. I just hope DH is not too sad it's not an iPad.
- sendtoreader, com : limited list of newspapers but they also offer a service to send web pages to your kindle
- Webtoread.com : extensive list of newspapers
Both are free for one subscription and ask for a small fee for more, but that remains a fraction of what Amazon is asking for a newspaper subscription.
DH brought up kindle not too long ago and said he's not really interested in it because he has a library card here and it's not an ipad. We'll see if this was a a botched birthday gift or not. I hope he will like the newspaper subscription!
Even using gift certificates to buy content from teh US store I believe they check you IP address and then block purchases after 5 books. you ring them and they sort it out, but its a pain
Amazons!!, by that I mean all the countries that sell Amazon stuff, sorry, I don't know how else to say it just now.
I think it was quite an advantage buying the Kindle from Switzerland, there seem to be less restrictions ( apart from the usual US-Europe restrictions) as to which country you are buying from.
I buy from the German, British, Us sites equally.
Of course, each has it's own zapya!!
By that I mean, each site will deinitely zap you with it's individual customs or zoll rates, we just have to decide if it's worth it or not...
