KVG Health Insurance Exemption

I am (was) a non EU student and was granted an exemption from KVG Health Insurance from the health authorities. I had a supplementary student health insurance policy and was paying around 70chf/month.

I am now finished studying and will begin a full-time job next week. I've applied to extend my B Permit on the basis of my job offer and work permit (until then, my student permit is valid until the end of August).

Does anyone know if I need to get the expensive KVG insurance right away? Or can I wait to get it when I receive my new residence permit?

Would be nice to hear from people who transitioned from student health insurance to regular KVG.

I ́d think that when you are no longer a student you need to have "normal" health insurance. And your permit will be backdated to reflect your change in status.

Your permit will become a normal one from the date you start working.
