It is. Swiss society seems to (still) be based around the idea that EVERYONE is married, and EVERY wife doesn't work. The trouble is, Swiss society seems to be ruled by housewifes and retired old ladies so it's not going to change in a hurry
When I first moved here I was trying to use the shared machine which I only actually managed to do as I worked right beside my apartment and had a boss who was cool with me nipping out for 5 minutes to do it.
But in the end I gave in and bought a machine as every 2 weeks (my slot for 5 hours) would be taken up by someone elses clothes and even after talking to them (I caught them multiple times) and getting the management involved I even went to taking their stuff out mid cycle but this still did not stop. So for the sake of your own sanity and the life span of your neighbours just invest in the machine in your apartment it's really an utter lifesaver if you travel for work etc and pays itself back in lack of stress pretty quickly!!
