In Swiss German it’s probably almost always Vogelhüsli – literal translation to German is simply Vogelhäuschen. There is no joke involved.
Only thing I would call Vogelhus in Swiss German (Vogelhaus in German) I can think of off the top my head would be some big owl’s Vogelhaus in the zoo. Although that would then probably be called Nistkasten.
