Leasing scam from the buyer?

Hi everyone. I would like to transfer my car leasing to another person. There is a transfer fee of about Fr.500. But what concerns me is the question when to give the car to the person considering 14-tägigen Bedenkfrist?

I understand that there are 14 days during which the new car owner can cancel the leasing contract after it has been signed. The dealership informed me that in this case the car reverts back to me, not the dealership. ( although the new leasing contract is between the new owner and the dealer).

So my question is what stops the person from signing the leasing contract, stealing or damaging the car, and then canceling the contract within 14 days?

Are there any leasing scams that you heard of? What should I be conscious about when transferring my car leasing to avoid being ripped off? Thanks

There is no avoiding on getting ripped off when you are cancelling your lease early, especially when you haven't paid any or not enough deposit to cover the depreciation of the car, like in your case. You are essentially selling a 50k vehicle which a dealer currently sells for 38k, the 12k is the depreciation which hasn't been paid on the car and you are searching for a fool to pay the new car depreciation on a used car, good luck with that

Best would be to cancel it early with the leasing company and pay the fine, might be cheaper in the end

This answer is off topic and just arrogant. Have a good day

If the new owner decides to to cancel the contract, I assume that you get the car back in the same condition when it was transferred.

Damaged - I suggest you take as many photos as you can for evidence.

Stolen - there is no car, so you can't get the lease back. Ask dealer to be sure.

What if you make the buyer sign the contract 14 days before handover?

Not familiar with leasing practices but would suggest physical transfer of vehicle should be postponed until the 14 days Bedenkfrist is over or has been explicitly overturned in advance if possible. Wouldn’t consider the above comment arrogant. Perhaps realistic?

Looks like the best option at the moment.

I have never done this myself, but I have some friends that have sold off/transferred leases and never once have I heard of an issue, nor of a scam/problems with this.

Provided you get the correct documentation from the person, you should be fine as you would then easily be able to report them to the police in the unlikely event that something does go wrong.

My advice in this situation would be don't worry too much about it, get the correct documentation of the buyer, verify this documentation and just do it - if you have a bad feeling about the buyer from the beginning then don't do it.

Good Luck, I do however agree that cancelling the lease and taking the fees would be easier - but keep us posted, I would be interested to know if you find someone who would actually takeover the lease before it expires

I can't imagine anyone would go with that, especially when they realise they could lease the same car cheaper from a dealer.

So you want somebody to buy your car, effectively become the owner but you keep it for 14 days so he can't have his legal cool off period?

When you thought you've heard everything...

I considered the response both on topic and realistic.

You asked for help. You are yet another poster who does like an answer.

You come over as the arrogant one...

Thanks for being helpful and on-topic.

There you go! Not arrogant, fully on topic - not only helpful but full of hope as well
