I see this is as a positive development and a step toward shifting control away from social-media platforms and back into the hands of parents. Most of these platforms already state in their own t&c that children below a certain age shouldn’t be accessing “ungated” social media. These new requirements simply enforce what the companies themselves “CLAIM” to prohibit, rather than creating an entirely new restriction.

I still get mildly embarrassed when I do have to take my phone out to check a map or address. I stop walking when I do this.

It is the American way of doing things. Give people the freedom to do shit and others the freedom to sue them for large sums of money. The European way is to to regulate to try to stop the shit happening. This is not a trivial argument.
