looking for a real Japanese Chinese Thai restaurant near Zug Zürich or Luzern

Gotthärdli in Zug near the lake is excellent for Thai!!

The Thai cook there now used to cook in another Thai

restaurant in Baar. I am VERY VERY happy that she

is there now!!

Best chinese restaurant is ZEN ( http://www.restaurant-zen.ch/index.p...tpage&Itemid=1 ). They serve authentic dim-sum on Sunday!

If you want Chinese or Thai food in Zug, go to Yummy Restaurant on Baarerstrasse 99 (just after Zuger Tor). Reasonably priced and good service. The chef is from Hongkong; the food is good. Set lunch is also very reasonable at CHF15 for two courses.

They're open every day till 10pm.

Argus is right.

I was there yesterday, and it is pretty good!

They also have some Thai dishes, but I have not tried them yet.

The Thai cook at Gotthärdli left, and the new cook

is not good at all. She is not even Thai.

how much is the average menu in dinner?

Hi,

I would really recommend Sala of Tokyo for Japanese food.

It's a bit pricy though.

Hello,

I haven't seen it mentioned, but my Chinese wife and I found this outstanding Chinese restaurant in Lausanne: Chez Xu.

It is a less than 5 minute walk north (uphill) from the train station.

Since we finally bought the GA cards we are tempted to take a day trip just for the food. Haven't found any Chinese restaurant that compares in quality and reasonable price (15 to 20 CHF a dish) in Switzerland. For our visit, most of the customers were Chinese which tends to be a good sign!

Hi,

real Japanese restaurant is Sala of Tokyo near the main station in Zürich..and here in Zug, Chada Thai next to the Coop at Baarerstreet is a good one..in Lucerne is the Sushi Restaurant Kaiten, check out the webpage ..kaiten.ch

Kind regards

I second the recommendation for Ah Hua.

The best Thai in Zurich.

After eating there, I finally decided that I can indeed survive living in Zurich.

I was craving for decent asian food, but couldn't find any until Ah Hua.

Edit: try their lemon grass fish.

As I grew up in Southeast Asia, I find their food to be decent (not excellent).

But, compared to the other asian restaurants that I've tried, they are on top.

If you are craving for some Indonesian food, this is also a decent place

(ask for less salt, as they tend to use too much)

Dapur Indonesia

I am sorry, but I have to disagree with this recommendation.

Very expensive and not good at all.

If you have eaten dim sum in good restaurants in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Singapore, the dim sum at Zen can not be even called that.

I went there once as it was recommended before on this forum and that was the last.

(Sorry, for the rant. I spent CHF150 for 3 persons and it was terrible.)

Hi, I definitely agree with the Ah-Hua recommendation for Thai food. They have excellent duck curry to start with... I prefer this place over Blue Monkey or Ban Song. For other Asian dishes, try Singapore in Badenerstrasse (tram2 stop: Freihofstrasse). It's one of the tastiest asian restaurants I've tried. Samurai is also good for makis like what the others have suggested. They have good gyozas, karaage and kaki fry too. Also not a fan of Wagamama here in Zurich... and probably best not to expect too much from Suan Long (they're everywhere and quality of food depends on which branch you're visiting but overall, it's okay food just to get by but definitely not impressive chinese)

Zug has a new-ish Japanese restaurant called Aki at Baarerstrasse 99. It serves good udon in soup as well as the usual sashimi, tempura, teriyaki and sushi - as well as lunch sets.

Been there twice. Loved the macha ice-cream with adzuki beans, too.

(The location is the former Yummy Restaurant.)

We'd been meaning to try it, but it was only open for lunch. I see that since the beginning of this month they're open for dinner now too - it just joined the list!

As for Thai food, if you're doing something in Lucerne and want to eat something Thai but inexpensive, try Pathai or Takrai next door. The soup noodle of the former is perfect for a cool or cold day. The padthai (fried rice noodles with ground peanut) and curry soup noodles are also very good.

I totally agree, it's so difficult to find nice Asian places to eat at here in Zürich. My boyfriend and I both love our Thai and Indian food but have yet to find a really nice place here in Zürich

Definitely try Beyond for nice any spicy Chinese:

For Japanese, I am told that it is the best Japanese in town:

Did you try Chalet India near Horgen? They've a website for more info.

Yake Zurich is an authentic Chinese restaurant

Hi there,

I was recommended also http://www.samurai7.ch/ for a japanese classmate.

So it seems that it is a good idea in Zurich.

C.

There is Keo Inn in Zurich, near Langstrasse. It is a Thai restaurant and the owner is Thai.

I think the food there is really good and authentic enough for me (I was recently in Thailand so the memory is still fresh) though since you're Thai you will be a better judge.
