Looking for some details on selling my car in Vaud

Hello,

I'd like to sell my 2011 BMW 320d in a private sale and just have some questions. Based on browsing this forum it looks like the transaction should be fairly easy. From what I understand the steps would be:

- Find buyer

- Ideally get a signed contract that expressly waives any warranty

- Collect money

- Hand over keys

- Keep my plates

- Get the grey card stamped at the "service de la navigation"

- Send it to the buyer

Am I missing or misrepresenting any steps?

I was also wondering about inspections. In Canada your car needs to pass an inspection when changing hands and I believe the inspection is good for like 30 days. Is there something similar here? Should I go get the car inspected before putting it up for sale? Will the inspection have a certain validity period? Am I obligated to do any such inspection?

If I sell to a dealer, what type of dealer might I expect to be able to get a better offer from? Would it be an original BMW dealer, some smaller garage, a car exporter?

Thanks for any insights.

Step 1 will be the hard part.

One can write a sales contract stating "Sold as is". Otherwise, believe that a car is guaranteed for 30 days. You don't have to have it inspected, However official inspection may help get a better price.
