Marriage and birth rates fall

People who make hating children their personality.

The irony here is that there are plenty of adults out there that are noisier than children. Also, disgusting. So, what’s the point of banning children? The place probably stinks anyway with dogs and people snoring.

But…my dog is cool and friendly

I think there’s a market for child-free and child-friendly places, even if it is separating out areas in the same location.

I think the children and child-haters would both be happier with separated arrangements.

The number of “child haters” is minimal. I object to neurodiverse and not so diverse children being allowed to run riot. It is their parents who should be on a lead, not our dog.

Kids (and dogs) should have places for them to run riot.

“Run riot” is open to interpretation. Yes, the old style “kids should be seen and not heard” has fortunately largely gone, but kids have to learn to how conduct themselves in social situations and be aware of others. Dogs are no different.

I agree with both statements. There are plenty of family-friendly places, particularly camping places. I see nothing wrong with a campground that has separate adults-only areas. Having separate areas can be nice for parents too, not just childless/childfree couples.

One place we’ve been to in France had an adults-only pool, far away from the main/kids pool. They also had a daycare area where parents could drop off the kids to do crafts and other activities while the parents went to chill out in the adults-only area for an hour or two. Sometimes I think the parents need a vacation from vacation. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think children and adults might want different things. At the pool, maybe adults just want to do their laps. While kids want to jump in and splash around. Same for other spaces.

Anyone for a game of Marco Polo? I’m sure we drove the adults nuts!

Never heard of that game before but it sounds awesome!

We played it for hours–you swam up underneath the “It” and pulled his/her leg, then swam well away under water. You were allowed to get out of the water, as long as you kept contact with said water. This meant that you could dive in, tapping the head of the “It”, and be away. We used to swim all day until our skin looked like prunes. But that was California in the good old days.

My fail. I did not expect clickbait from swissinfo, but the editor there made a few choices to hide info.

The camping site pic headlining the article was cropped to hide valuable info which would made the article irrelevant. So, the camp site is split between family and adults areas. There is no exclusion, only catering to diverse customer needs. The last paragraph in the article mentions this tangentially, but easy to miss.

With that said, an adults only camping still feels like lipstick on a pig. Wood cabins with poor to non-existent noise insulation, or camping vans forming a shanty town won’t deliver peace and quiet regardless of demographics. A hotel with real walls, far away from motorways and airfields can deliver that. Or drive the camping van to a country where is possible to camp alone somewhere.
