Marten (fouine) in the roof

Yes JagWaugh. We drove out to where there are no houses or buildings, just countryside & forest.

Hi - we had Marder/marten in the roof last spring - called a company (Ratex) to come a deal with them, which they did, along with giving us a quote to fix and marden-proof the roof for CHF 12,000 which seems fairly steep.

Due to various delays (not to mention the one caused by the shock at the quote!!), insurance stuff, visit by loss adjuster etc, the work has not yet been done - also due to unresponsiveness (and poor admin) of the Ratex Company.

Anyway, I can now hear another Marder up in the roof, which is obv a pain as it means she isnback to make another nest..

Does anyone have experience with another company which they would recommend?

Just buy poison, problem solved.

Failing that, there's the rifle I recently bought off SwissCath.

Tom

Our roof was Marder-proofed for just a few francs. Wire-netting in any holes and those spikes on a place where they could gain access to the roof.

But to fix the mess they made before that meant taking the roof off to replace the fibre glass insulation. That may be where your 12,000 is going.

I couldn't recommend the company though - beer cans and cigarette end in the flower beds does not suggest Schweizer Qualitat.

Dead animals rotting in the roof is not pleasant though - nor were the maggots falling into our bedroom*

* we hadn't moved in at that point.

Yes that sounds about right - there were many pics in the quote of the mess made which needs to be repaired too - so prob 50% repair and 50% prevention (hence the delay with the insurance/loss adjustor as they try and get a response from Ratex re the split etc..).

Any other experiences welcome.
