I bought a side by side Liebherr in 2008 for nearly 5000ch- what a waste of money. just a week outside the guarantee the temperature button cracked. 6 months later the fridge door handle just snapped off and today the fridge section is stuck at -7c. At around 200ch for a call out from Fors/Liebherr contractor in Rolle, I would rather feed food embedded in ice crystals to my family while waiting to order a less-flashy but solidly engineered fridge. My daughter's Playmobil fridge is better quality. Do not waste your money on this pup!
Well......we finally got all Miele items --fridge, freezer, steamer, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, except Ventilation hood which we found Miele's range a way too much focusing on function than aesthetic.
I'm sure next question will be..."is it really worth it?" I could say it's too early to say as i just start using it for 1 week.....
However, it was whole lot of pain with the appliance due to the lack of knowledge of installer (sorry have to side track a bit)....pipe not correctly done, not communicating to us when an upgrade model is delivered (different panel and thus instruction manual..). So lesson no. 1 for me (when you buy new appliances for NEW appartment, make sure the installment do a good job regardless of the brand of appliance you bought especially if the product is innovative in the market and thus require extra attention during installation.
Will update on Miele's performance after a couple of months if anybody is interested to know...
we have a 25years+ old Liebherr freezer at my parents' home, and it's still running without problems. But then, my grandma had a Miele washing machine that was more than 30yrs old. SO, I assume both are decent brands.
I couldn't agree more. We inherited a 6 year old Miele fridge when we moved into our new home and we spent exactly 460 CHF on repairs that did not fix the issue! The fridge does not keep an even temperature--there are days where it doesn't cool lower than 9 degrees--and some days where it will stay at 5 degrees. On top of that, most Miele fridges and freezers are not frost-free. In this day and age that should be a minimal standard. Miele does good vacuums, dishwashers, and washing machines. But when you consider the price you pay for the fridges or freezers, there are brands which have higher quality and superior convenience.
what's funny is that it's Liebherr that makes all fridges and freezers for Miele! So all those talks about relative quality can be thrown out the window...
