Migros, open 24/7?

Should be staffed during the day and automated sales during the night. Migros applied for a permit for a pilot test in Herisau (Appenzell Innerrhoden).

It would be interesting to see the sales data from Migros online shop. If the numbers show people buying butter and toilet paper at 3AM, why not?

In Herisau of all places?

I expect their ‘shrinkage’ is going to be high.

Could be they smoke more you know what.

haha, it’s a pilot test. So, maybe it’s good to start in a controlled environment.

Anyway, Migros doesn’t sell alcohol and cigarettes :frowning:

Very controlled. In Herisau, everybody is in bed by 21:30.

But after a good joint or bong one does get hungry for snacks and ice cream.

mmmm, munchies!

They will go from the canton with the lowest theft rate to the highest.

Migros Solothurn did that four years ago. They called it Voi Cube (a neudeutscher name which means … nothing? Volume of interest cube? Hä?
Why don’t the Herisauer just go ask the Solothurner how it worked out? When the left hand of Migros doesn’t know what the right hand of it does … :woman_facepalming:

The advantage of Solothurn; you get the dope there so selling stuff to ease the munchies could be profitable.
Now all we here have to get ready for is all those stoned drivers from Zurich heading to Herisau.

German article of 2021

edit: I’m not a timid woman but do I want to be alone at 3am with some sleezy looking drunk (or worse 5 of them) in a Migros-shop which I can’t get out of without paying with card - which might be exactly the thing the other wants of me? In Herisau?

Reminds me the first time I went to a Target in College Station, Texas @ 3 a.m. in the morning. I was kind of apprehensive – a young woman -without a gun, in a county where there were 3 weapons/head… and then I was mesmerized by the amounts of normal people that were shopping at that time of the night! (btw, the Target was more or less like 10 times the size of the Migros at Zurich HB… and was only ‘manned’ at the cashiers).

  • College Station had about 70,000 people. A village, for US standards…

Same situation as Migros  no distillates and no more beer at 20h00, 21h00?

aha! you know the Brazos county well! indeed, that was (and is) the case

Visited only once. I did live for a while in Kleber county (Kingsville) with very similar rules. Another A&M U.

There is such a 24/7 shop not far from my home.

The husband of a lady in our village died in January and she had to leave her apartment due to insufficient funds, she is now sleeping in the shop.

Don’t ask me for more details because I don’t know them, why, for example, she did not go to the “social”.
