unused data never expires and the rest is always moved to the next month
never like never, or are there any limits, expiring after 1 year, or cap on total accumulation (AI told me there’s usually a cap on 50GB amongst NVMO operators)
does it accumulate with these:
the Basic would be quite suitable for me if costed 9 chf/m…
Never like never (my husband has their SIM for 10+ years), but I cannot say about the cap since he has prepaid and never accumulated more than several GBs.
I have a package with similar conditions to the one you have sent a link to, but I’m paying 9.95/month and paid 0.- activation fee, because it was a Black Friday offer. I have accumulated 27 GB at the moment, so I can’t say if there is a cap of 50.
Digitalrepublic data - 6 chf/m, 1M/0.5Mbps - really good enough for all the mobile apps, and IM voice calls. Data is unlimited so you don’t have to think about usage per se.
Swisscom prepaid - 0.8 chf per 1h of call. (Salt prepaid charges 0.25 chf per 1h of call) - provided I haven’t called anyone in the last ~5 years this just serves the availability, that is I can place the call if I ever need to and if so it’ll cost peanuts. It’s enough to send on SMS a year to keep the number active.
I was even hesitating between 6 and 4 chf/m for the data sim. The cheaper is 0.4M/0.2M - I bet it’ll still be good enough for my use, but maybe an occasional YT video won’t load
EDIT: I’ve just asked AI, so yes the cheapest abo would work in theory for voice calls but any uncontrolled background OS data use could break it
The Speed Needed: Most IM apps use advanced compression (codecs) like Opus, which require around 40 to 80 kbps of bandwidth.
Upload vs. Download: Because a voice call is a two-way street, your upload speed is just as important as your download speed.
Data Consumption: A voice call consumes about 0.3 to 0.5 MB of data per minute. A 20-minute call will only use about 10 MB of your data plan.
I plan to use some eSIM, but I don’t travel much and even with the “unlimited 40GB high speed from yallo” I still preferred to buy a local SIM whilst on holiday if I needed a real “high speed” internet. The high speed roaming package was never even remote close to high speed except the 5G indicator
Those are good savings. A few years ago I ‘gave up’ and just got the 39 Fr. Sunrise QoQa deal which gave me effectively unlimited everything so I didn’t need to worry about buying packages when roaming etc.
Since, I’m mostly at work or home where I have WiFi, this is arguably a huge waste of money.
