Mobile damage and Haftpflichversicherung

Hello Good day

I have a quick question. We visit a family friend and my phone battery was dead so my friend gave his mobile phone to my 8 year old son to watch kartoon. All of sudden we heard sound and mobile phone was on the floor

We notice No scratch but there was green and blue lines flashing. We were concerned as his phone was relatively new. He restart phone , display work shortly then it was totally black.

Now i want to know:

1. I dont think any trick will work or someone has any experience?

2. Can I claim this damage by my hauptpflichtversicherung? If applicable please share personal experience to proceed and outcome?

3. Lastly still I need to pay selbstbehaltung as damage was done by minor?

Thnx for your quick response.

1. No

2. Yes

3. Yes, you need to

Your personal liability cover will take care of this. Call your insurance company or broker and get permission to reimburse the owner. You can then pay him and claim the amount, less any own risk, from the insurance co.

The owner will need to provide you with the original invoice. If the phone is less than a year old they will cover 100%, but if older they will pay a reduced amount due to depreciation.

Thnx foe sharing valuable info

This only works once and they can also refuse to insure you in the future if they decide the case is not quite as clear cut as presented.

Once you been refused for insurance by one company, it is not so easy to get insurance at a reasonable premium elsewhere
