Mobile number spoofing

Hi everyone,

Has anyone had their mobile number "spoofed", by which I mean it appears someone is making spam calls and my number shows up at the recipient's end it seems. So I am not receiving the spam calls (plenty of threads of that) but I appear as a missed call, or maybe as a spammer itself.

I am getting about 3 or 4 calls per day from people saying "I missed a call from this number".

I am only getting them from the UK this week, and last week from Italy.

I have filed a support ticket with my network provider Salt but not much I expect they can do

Just wondering if anyone else had this and how long it lasted. There's quite a few articles about it online which basically say, wait for the spammers to start using someone else's number in a few weeks...

In Germany there are scammers calling people spoofing a real Interpol number (they actually call from far abroad).

Apparently the TLC network is not designed to prevent that, although they claim they're working on it.

Sadly not much you can do.

Even using skype, you can in theory spoof numbers (but would need access to the phone once to validate)

Second day in a row for me, someone calls in the evening (from a Swiss number) explaining that I called them earlier today. Today it took me more than five minutes to try explain to the caller that it was not me who had called him, even if he had my number in his screen. In the end he hung up still not too convinced about it.
