naaa, it’s a warning. How much is the fine for lacking the vignette when on the highway? The title is perfect me thinks.
CHF200 as I recall.
I’ve changed the title once, that’s enough.
I haven’t driven for a while, so I forgot about it.
Tomorrow, there’s a few hours of motorway driving and I remembered I haven’t got the 2026 vignette. Just bought it online.
We have two cars on the same numberplate so I like the e-vignette as I only have to buy one whereas with the physical one I have to buy one.
FTFY
We stuck with the normal one. Husband did look at the e one, but obviously didn’t find the official site as all the ones he looked at charged extra on top of the CHF40.
Got ours from Lidl for CHF29 by buying more than CHF70 of goods. Since we shop in there every week wasn’t really difficult to get up to the required amount for the discount.
For future reference:
He didn’t tell me he was looking at them so of course never thought to ask me if I knew what the official site for them was. ![]()
I do wish the official site allowed for you to sign up for a vignette reminder. Without the visual cue (ie the old sticker) it is really easy to forget.
Or maybe this is a feature, not a bug, to gain some more revenue…
Definitely sounds like a good idea to have a reminder. Especially since it’s relatively new and people may forget about renewing it because they’ve switched over.
Yea! Right! They should send out a million reminders at Xmas time.
I would rather receive an e-Bill from them every year for an automatic prolongation, like Halbtax.
I get a reminder when pay for petrol at the start of the year…
I’ve got a reminder function in my iPhone.
My brain is still functioning good enough to remind myself every year.
I have a wife ![]()
Or, cantons could ask nicely: do you want a motorway vignette along the cantonal road taxes?
Once thinking about improvements, cantons could also say: we found out that we’re overcharging the cantonal road tax for several years. This year the motorway vignette is on “us”.
My dear Aargau charges road taxes 24% more than it spends on roads every year.
Where are those 4+ billions francs?
In a statement, the industry association Autoschweiz criticizes the high taxes. “More than 12.7 billion francs are paid annually by motorists to the state. But only 8.8 billion francs are actually reinvested in road traffic.”
