Spices, nuts and exotics are all harder to find and of much smaller weight quantities in CH (thus prices). This becomes irritating when you have to go to many shops, across the border etc.
If I were you id bring:
- spices, herbs and bring a kg of your commonly used items (we get these from Italy or France usually) .
- anything slightly specific - thai, mexican, british etc all command a price premium and lack range / quality
- english basics like jams, chutneys etc you love
- special flours like Asian, alternatives to gluten etc
Pharmaceuticals and wellness is a must to bring:
- vitimans
- creams etc (non prescription)
- first aid supplies
- pain killers - ridiculously expensive in CH, 3-4 times markup
- favorite toiletries (e.g. we use Sukin for many body products, not available)
Dont worry too much about the import fees. Id declare the items as part of your home inventory and for this we were allowed to bring things like this in (the first import).
Exciting times!
