Moving with dogs from CH to USA

Having worked at an airport, I would not do it either.

Thank you. Very very kind.

By the way, does anyone know the actual official rabies schedule for importing into the US? We’ve kept our dogs Euro compliant, so once every three years, and when I lived in the US the state also had a once every three years policy, but I’ve yet to successfully find any solid information on the federal websites as to the official stance for importing purposes. And I’ve really looked!

I’ve no idea, but wondering if it varies state to state?

A friend of mine (living in US) recently imported her deceased sister’s dog from Sweden to the US. The regulations for New York (point of arrival JFK) were different to final destination North Carolina.

I’d check with local authorities for state where you arrive be air (and will clear dogs) as well as your final destination (if different state)

Sales tax regs vary state to state, wouldn’t be surprised if rabies regs do as well

I did know that rabies requirements vary from state to state, but figured there were some kind of federal guidelines for importation. Good to know that your friend had that experience! I’ll check with the airport we’re landing at, and also with our final state destination (driving).

ETA: Looks like both states only require every three years, except the second shot should be within a year of the first. So I’ll have to revaccinate my 18 month pup who got her first a little over a year ago, but the other two have maintained a once every three years schedule that should pass both states requirements, though they didn’t get that repeat one a year later as my vets here only maintain every three years. But seeing as they’re older and have both received two at this point, I think that should be good.
