Mushroom cultivation

There's a mushroom cultivation workshop taking place in Meilen, Zurich which is usually led in German but there will be a special one in English in which I'll be participating. It will focus on growing your own mushrooms at home and in the garden. Sadly so far there's only 3 of us and the minimum number of participants is 8. Would any of you be interested?

Would love to come, but sadly too far for me. I am a very keen and experienced wild fungi forager- but would love to grow my own too.

Is this in May? I need to see what we’re doing but I might be able to come. Looks interesting.

For those of you interested you can send an email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

The organizer is called Etienne and he's happy to answer any questions in English.

The English workshop is on May 7th. There are other dates but those are in German.

I'd be very happy to host (got a very large teaching room, with beamer, screen, WCs and access to wild fields- and separate cooking, etc, facilities) a course in the French speaking part, in English and or French - for free in exchange for my participation, if interested.

I was just speaking with a friend about growing mushrooms at home so fortuitous timing! Thanks for sharing the info.

wow, some are really nice mushrooms, but if I see something like that in the woods I would just kick them...

Ink coprinus are delicious, so you would be very wrong to kick them.

Must say this is one of my pet hates- people who kick mushrooms and destroy them. If you are not interested, just leave them alone- why not!

Yeah, of course. I wouldn't destroy. Sorry for strong words. I meant that not in 100 years I would think those are edible

One of the most commonly found edible mushrooms near towns. lol. In meadows, football pitches, etc. They don't grow in the woods

Remember, live people eat dead mushrooms but live mushrooms eat dead people.

Checking out the seminar.

Fantastic topic with an amazing group of collaborators.

This, and Mycelium Running, by Paul Stamets.

As an aside, I am an enthusiast and enjoy growing mushrooms. It's fascinating.

A huge potential too to treat many medical conditions. One of our relatives in NI is doing a lot of research in this field.

St Georges mushrooms, for instance, have a great effect on glycemia/sugar in blood.

There‘s a book called “the secret life of fungi” by Aliya Whitely, just released as an audio book. The reader is Alison Larkin and her work is generally quite good. Print version was released in 2020.

Digging this thread up...

I just emailed the organiser to get some info on the timing for the course, but the email bounced, and the site seems to have disappeared as well...

Does anyone have any info if this is still on?

Don't know anything about the class, but the website is functioning for me and I can get to it fine:

May have been a momentary glitch when you tried.
