Is it? I've only eaten there and the food was mediocre but better than the average poor offerings in Interlaken.
my mistake, its a 4 star. anyway my point stands, they want to increase their business so have an angle on the Ramadhan thing. fair enough.
Fixed that for you.
As Phos said, this is about business, not politics.
Anyway, none of this is really helping the OP find what he's looking for, is it? Some of us are too old or too fussy to go native, so why blame someone for looking to stay somewhere he feels comfortable?
Exactly. If it wasn't then the top of the Jungfrau would smell of traditional
cheese fondue rather than Indian curry.
I guess the same could be said for hotels in the Middle East which offer casinos, bars etc.. that are completely off limit to locals.
When I mentioned the Metropole, I failed to notice the amount you wish to spend your accommodation.
If you fail to find anything more suitable then you may want to consider a hostel. You can get double rooms with en-suite facilities for your privacy but more importantly, you can get to use a kitchen.
Here's one in Interlaken
OP, you can also find weekly apartment rentals at interhome.ch. But beware, those homes are likely to have been previously inhabited by some Kuffars.
Dear OP,
Obviously, most of us are at a loss to help you. Perhaps by contacting a Muslim religious center in Zürich or Geneva, you'll find more helpful information.
Good luck.
Yeah, speak for yourselves. I was genuinely trying to help the OP.
B***s**t- the OP wrote a delightfully polite request for help, and I'm certain if he hadn't been Muslim would have gotten plenty of help WITHOUT all the needless and distasteful filler.
(Edit- a nice mod did a magic trick on the worst of the filler)
But if the request was particularly specific, like this one, then people would more likely be willing to help. i.e. hotels for families, disabled, vegetarian etc.
And the initial request was pretty polite compared with some.
The OP is getting plenty of help. There is just the usual noise and static from dorks excited about the prospect of a train wreck.
Yes. That is quite normal on a discussion forum. When somebody comes without specific information like "is 120.000 a decent salary" we send him off. If he however comes with a thread "is 120.000 a decent salary for a homeopath" we might indulge in a discussion without really answering the question... although there was the answer in here already: 50 pounds a night is very low for Swiss standards and I hope the OP meant 50 per person, not per room. Expecting to find some special services for this price is fairly unreasonable.
I suggest you contact:
http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/contact.html
They might know about your specific needs.
Another sources that comes to my mind:

Good Luck and Enjoy your stay in Switzerland. I'm sure your wife will like it, and you as well, of course.
On the contrary I know there are many hotels in Interlaken that have double rooms for around this price; sorry i can't search and link them now, but some of my friends who visited have lived there, so pretty sure they exist and are decent. And if the OP is specifically talking about Islamic places, it is even more likely to find one in that range, because either goodwill, kinship, donations etc. factors come in play. so I think 50 punds is quite a reasonable figure for a budget traveler couple.
Assuming OP's religious ethics allow him to manage with vegetarian food for a week, most restaurants in CH have veggie menus, so they should get by fine.
OP, I hope this was useful. A peaceful day for you too.
I went to booking.com, the cheapest and biggest hotel search engine I know of. I picked nex weeks Saturday at random and the cheapest double room (a two star "IBIS" hotel in Adliswil... ) is 99CHF per night - thats 66 pounds. I am not saying that it is impossible to find a cheaper place, only that the budget is VERY tight for Zurich and that you will have a task to find a room for 50 pounds a night at all. All four stars hotels do not only have vegi food, but will get you something Halal beyond that. But two stars probably don't give a thing about your religion and offer very basic services.
50 Pounds per person, pretty exactly 150 CHF gets you a long list of 2-3 star hotels and I am sure there is a viable option. Just over 100 GBP was for example the "four star but fairly old" Ramada on Badener Str, an area full of Muslim shops and restaurants...
But if you want to go so far that there is no male room service or repair guy coming to your room in an emergency - no, you will not find a hotel that takes this level of respect towards your - for local standards very unusual - requests lower than the top level. And that doesn't cost 50 pounds.
I have only just seen this Thread. It looks to me as if the OP has mistaken us for a Travel Agency.
This Thread has little to do with expats and living here. There is probably enough information on here for any visitor to start off with. I'll close it before it goes off the rails again and yet another Mod has to do a cleaning up job on it.
I take it no-one looked at the
Profile ! Normally this would have been Banned and Removed immediately as 'preparing the way for spam posts.'.
A lesson to us all.
