What's on your bucket list of MUST visit/see in Switzerland or Europe.
I'll soon leave Switzerland and return home (I'm guesstimating I'll leave in 2years).
I want to make sure I enjoy every aspect of Switzerland (and Europe) before I depart. So I want to start making a list of MUST SEE and must do before I leave. This gives me 2 summers, 2 winters.
What's on your list of must see / do? What have you done here in Europe that you will "never" get a chance to do somewhere else.
Let me know, I want to make an amazing list so when I go home I won't have any regrets.
I'll start the list:
* watch a professional ski race in person
* Go to some of the islands off of Spain
* See Lake Bled in the winter
* Spend a night at the Burgenstock resort
* Go to Glacier 3000
Some are easy to do
some more challenging
Some are expensive
and others free
so If I give myself 2years I can coordinate either my time or money or season.
Look at it this way.....
to go to the Bergenstock resort it costs a lot of money, but right now I just need to take a train there and spend the night. Once I return home, I would then need to take a flight to go to that resort and the cost will double or ....
Burgenstock resort is not lively at the moment, I was up there last week, I would not understand why you would want to stay there at 800CHF a night when it seems the resort is half empty.
Zermatt would be a must in my opinion, 2 nights there visiting the Matterhorn and staying in a hotel for 250 a night would be a great experience and a suggestion for you.

But seriously, list a few things that have you already done that you really enjoyed/hated so you don’t get a ton of responses of things that you’ve done already.
I definitely recommend Jungfraujoch - and when I return, I hope to try hang gliding there.
enjoy a few days in the Tessin, near a lake but also hiking a little, it s really different than the rest of CH. I ve never been to Maggia/Verzasca but that would be on my list
also visit at least 1 castle, Lenzburg, Kyburg or on the French speaking part. Kind of belongs to CH history and can be fun
most of the islands of this word are off of Spain, but if you go just for islands, I would go to Greece or Croatia

oh,...... but if you go there, visit also Hisa Franko (you need another day for it)
* Spend a night at the Burgenstock resort
Burgenstock is new and luxurious, but for me it lacs any sense of place, it could be anywhere in the world. Have you thought about Swiss historical hotels, like Waldhaus Sils in Sils Maria, or Park Hotel Vitznau etc
* Go to Glacier 3000
this one has the bridge, or Jungfraujoch that has that crazy tunnel through the mountain, and than you can spend much more time walking around glacier, or head to Chamonix and on Aiguille du Midi, it has the most dramatic environment of all of them, and you are practically under the Mont Blanc
You could kill 3 birds, as it were; visit the Jungfrau region with its stunning village Lauterbrunnen (visited by Tolkien when he was 19 and supposedly was the inspiration for Rivendell), "do" the Jungfraujoch, and see the exciting downhill races at Wengen;
The Glacier Express and the Bernina Express are not expensive, you just need to know how to do it. Avoid the named trains take another one, they all use same line and take same time, just far cheaper
