My Facilitated Naturalization application experience

Yes you can once the commune has confirmed that all requirements are met and has received all documents.

ETA:

It seems you can't move outside of your Canton during the full procedure, at least not outside of Kanton Zürich. But to be sure you should ask the authorities anyway.

Just now getting around to asking you this, but did they provide the booklet to you?

Yes it came along with the invitation for the interview.

Hello,

I have got a date (in April) for the interview, but I have not received the 30 pages booklet what you mentioned....

Do you still have it?

Sorry I am outside the country until April

Don't think I had it anymore anyway... I guess it went into the "Papiersammlung" after I got the passport.

Is this any good? http://www.stadt-schaffhausen.ch/fil...Kenntnisse.pdf

You don‘t mention where you are naturalising - but here is the one from Stadt Zurich.

What I found useful was the historical walks on the Stadt Zurich website that take in different areas of town. I was able to talk at length about the history at my interview which impressed the interviewer.

The other thing that helped was being involved in different clubs / societies - like the Fasnacht clique I take part in.

Cheers,

Nick

Thank you, I am in BL (I have to go to Frenkendorf), but I think the general questions are same in every kantons.

The interview is to ask why do you want to become Swiss, if you understand what is happening in the political sphere and about your social integration: club/association (hobby), family, school, work etc.

I got a letter from Basel asking for my CV and for me to call them "to answer some questions". I had submitted everything to them a year ago March, with a follow up in August for a missing document.

We'll see what comes of this

** Facilitated naturalization processed via Bern, with Zürich as the Heimat but Basel as my current residence. Complicated!

I called up the office last week to see what they needed from me.

It was the interview!!

I was 100% not ready for this. My mind was elsewhere, I haven't been speaking much German lately since I haven't been leaving the apartment much this year, I have a hard time on the phone anyway due to the lack of visual cues...it was awful.

The woman explained that they would not be hosting personal interviews due to the Covid situation and she proceeded to ask me country-specific questions, asked about my hobbies and social life, how things are with my husband and our employment...By the time I hung up the phone I was practically in tears, fearing that I had done so poorly.

When Dan came home and I explained what happened, he too was shocked. His colleagues later said not to worry: because this is a facilitated process, they really just want to make sure that our relationship is legit and we can support ourselves.

The interviewer will pass my information on to her colleagues in Bern and I will hear from them at some point.

Pressing thumbs / crossing fingers!

I hope you didn't just answer ja ja to all the questions, especially the one about working in a red light district and whether Dan is your pimp!

Hey, at least we're employed

I had a date for interview in April, but because of the corona virus it was held only last week.

I was in BL. It took about 45 minutes.

At first: lots of general question (why would you like to be Swiss?, Do you have Swiss friends? , What is your hobby?, etc....)

And then I got the following questions. It was a lot, but sometimes I had to answer with only a word.....

wie viele Kantone

6 Halbkantone

7 Bundesrätin (Name)

Bundeskänzler Name

5 Berge

5 Flüsse

Nationalrat

Ständerat

1 August (Legend Bundesbrief, Rütlischwur)

Willhelm Tell

Wiener Kongress (1815 - Neutralität)

Bundesverfassung, Bundesstaat Gründung (1848)

Politische rechte für Frauen (1971)

Kanton Jura (1979)

Halbdirekte Demokratie

Grundrechte

Eheschliessung/Heiraten

Rechtgleicheit

Gleichberechtigung (Frauen und Männer)

Gewaltmonopol in der Schweiz

Innere und aussere Sicherheit der Schweiz

Referendum/Initiative

Bräche in Baselland

Nachbarländer/Nachbarnkantone BL

Good grief, you had to answer all that under the facilitated/easy process??

yes

It never ceases to amaze me how different the process is from municipality to municipality, despite it being under federal rules and regulations. The municipality can only object if you're a criminal or risk to society, so why ask you all that stuff? Anyway glad it went okay for you and hope you're soon Swiss.

I know. I got nothing like that, just a few basic questions about my life

Oh MY!!!

Thank goodness I didn't have to go through THAT! Then again, I suspect that you had some time to prepare, since you knew that you had an interview scheduled But even so.... good luck! I hope that the results are in your favor!

yes in Zürich it was so easy. But that was 10 years ago
