I may be being a bit stupid and not grasping the purpose of section "Forderung" in the eapplication for naturisation. Maybe my hausfrau braincells are failing me today
We are a family 2 parents 3 kids I would say normal level of integration into our gemeinde...local schools, adults language courses time to time, we have swiss neighbours, some friends (with swiss assports), we attend local events.
I am a hausfrau and dont work......Husband full time employed.
I dont understand the naturisation questions on "Förderung durch husband"
Is he supposed to tick yes he supports us? I can speak german b1, i dont need a translator.
Is your husband Swiss and are you applying for fascilitated naturalization? I think in that case your spouse needs to be in favor of you acquiring Swiss citizenship.
This section is also present for the normal naturalization. If I remember correctly there is a check box, something like: "Yes, I support the integration of my spouse". Some fields are weird indeed.
There is a field about financial support for the non-working spouse. I simply uploaded our last tax declaration to this section. Applying online is so much more convenient than on the paper. The process is so smooth and structured.
EVen though OH got facilitated naturalisation, after his interview the advisor asked to speak to me. She asked if I supported his application, and if we had any intention to divorce! We had been married for over 40 years- so I laughed and said, 'yes, and after all this time, I'll stick with him'. She smiled and said 'that will do nicely'.
Thanks for your thoughts. We are both foreigners, married over 18 years no plans to divorce.
Hubby does support me financially I'm lucky that we are able to make this work. I did work when kids were babies but stopped before kindergarten, plan to rejoin when I can get a job. Actually hoping passport might make this easier.
We do support each others application so I guess we just tick the yes boxes. I was just confused in case it ticking yes somehow indicated that we couldn't get by without each other - we dont need translators.
Not sure if the above typo is relevant for your understanding, perhaps
it's just a matter of keyboard layout. But:
- "F o rderung" is a demand in the legal sense, the flip side of an obligation
- "F ö rderung" is, in this context, support and help in certain efforts beyond the usual amoung. For instance parents helping their children with school stuff more than is common.
(a second meaning of Förderung, often as part of a compound noun, is the extraction and production of mineral resources. For instance KohleFörderung, coal production)
The form speaks of the latter. For the typical family/spouses the answer is a resounding Yes.
I am not a lawyer but the relevant part of the Naturalisation law seems to be Art. 12, al. 1(e), Criteria for integration :
“e. encouraging and supporting the integration of one’s wife or husband, registered partner or the minor children for whom one has parental responsibility.”
So if you don’t tick “Yes” you would not meet the 5th criteria for integration.
If you do tick yes (which seems to be appropriate in your case), then as part of the naturalisation process they might check that this is actually true, the same way they check other statements and details. A key thing they might check is if the spouse attends language classes.
See the middle section of this article https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/burka-a…tance/42985402 , the part titled “Permits and passports”: “ If the authorities suspect a man applying for a Swiss passport of preventing his wife from integrating, he will not be considered as integrated himself and will be denied naturalisation. ”
