New Business venture in Schwyz

Hi All,

I have been going through this forum since quite long and would like to thank all who spend their time to answer the doubts of people.

I am from Malaysia and doing my business here. I am planning to open my new venture either in Germany or in Switzerland soon and if it is switzerland, aiming to establish in Schwyz.

I would like to know how the education system as one of my german freind said , germany is better for schooling of kids. As per his thinking switzerland enducation is bit complicated... can any one please guide me an actual difference between two? My kids are 11 and 14 years old and i wouldnt mind them to send them for german language learning for one year if i bring my kids there. Secondly, i would prefer local public school and is it free the learning of language for kids ?

I will be doing a Metal business and prefer outskirts rather than city area , so wollerau or other nearby outskirts of Zurich would be a best option for me.

It would be a great help if i have some idea about schooling in details which will help me to take decision.

Thanks all and regards.

Ajay.

I've no idea of the differences between the German and Swiss education systems. And in any case, it won't be the Swiss education system you're dealing with, it will by the Schwyz education system. Although the German speaking Kantons are largely harmonised with education, there are local differences.

Local public schools have introductory classes for children whose German isn't good enough, before they go into mainstream. Yes, they are free. An 11 year old might be ok, but you will probably wreck the 14 year olds educational chance of getting a decent Swiss qualification.

Thank you very much for your quick reply and will try to do some more research as i am planning to visit switzerland by March.

thanks and and regards.

Have you investigated setting up a business here? Just because you set up a business in Switzerland, it doesn’t give you the right to move to here as a non-EU national. You would need to set up a GmbH or SA and would need someone who is already a Swiss resident to act as a director of the company. They would need to prove that to hire you as an employee of the company (the only way to get a permit to live/work here) they couldn’t find a Swiss/EU national who could do the job.

Hi Medea,

Thanks for reply.

Yes I have my business partner who is Swiss resident "C permit holder" and German citizen. We are planning to set up a GmbH company in Schwyz.

Regarding the qualification, i am an electrical engineer and having an experience in my business since 1997 .I believe this would help me as my experience is unique in my business which would be difficult to find similar in that region.

Thanks and Regards.

Ajay.

Have you already investigated the competition in the regions you plan to establish in? Schwyz is not a large place.

Hi Chuff,

Yes actually my plan was to start in 2020 but just before i could come covid started so i had a deep survey in last two years about my business.

In fact i will be sourcing material from locally in switzerland as well as from Germany and export to Asian countries. I have my own set up in India and malaysia so my company will export from europe and can import in these countries. There are good availability of material.

Thanks and Regards.

Ajay.
