New car - paperwork? (License, parking permit)

Hi there :-)

been a lurker for several years and finally got to also post a question here:

I just bought a new car in geneva, we live in lausanne. We do have another car here which we'd like to sell now. This begs the following questions:

What would be the easiest way to un-register the old car and register the new car (license / insurance / parking permit). Is there a way to use the old car's registration for the new one? There will likely be a time where we will still have the old car (until we find a buyer). Any idea where i could park the old car without a license plate? Are there temporary license plates so a potential buyer can do a test drive with the old car?

So many questions

Get interchangable plates at the Service des Autos, Lausanne (SAN / Blecherette or Nyon or Yverdon or Aigle)

You CANNOT park an unlicensed car on public land, has to be on private land.

Whatever you do, you have to pass by SAN
