New poster campaign - a bit bad taste

I was shocked when I saw those Billboards...it kinda made me sad after I came accross it. If it is 'secerous' then its has really changed my opinion of the Swiss, and Switzerland. Its one thing for the SVP to make ad campaines against Immigration...but something compleatly different for (whoever) to make a campaine against its fellow people (who didn't exactly choose to be dissabled)

I don't see the difference. One is as bad as the other one.

Immigration made many generations ago have today peoples who lives here, were born here. So it's against its fellow people as well....

Discrimination is bad whether it is towards a native or an expat.

Unfortunately, most are blind towards this and act only when something happens to them

The avertising company responsible is refusing to say who had them stuck up, more rights to secrecy than some banks.

I'd hate to work as a poster-paster* for such a company, having to be the one to stick up some of the crapè that people come up with.

*if that's not what it's called then it should be

Maybe I worded it a bit wrong...but I mean it just keeps progessing. It started with the SVP compains and now the've moved on to tackle disabled people...and then what?

As they say; any publicity is good publicity.

I guess this will go the same route as the Kebap posters... Most people will complain and only after they reveal the cause behind it (I seriously hope they have one... I wasn't impressed when I saw the poster this week...) will the actual discussion begin...

Right now, their goal has been achieved, the posters are being talked about...

Quite so. My post was intended to be provocative and stimulate debate and discussion ...

Speaking of which, I'd love to discuss the many disabilities for which handicapped parking permits are "awarded" and their relative impact on walking to and from a car space (I don't see how depression makes it any harder to park your car in a regular-sized car space a little further from the lifts in the car park, for instance), but that would be a whole 'nother thread.

I have just seen the same publicity around and my opinion is:

Being provocative might be acceptable if it's targeting to start debate for the good of everyone, on the contrary being un-human, immoral money grabbers is totally something else.....i don't think the disabled are the main financial problem in Switzerland, it's not the first neither the last time i see this in Switzerland, i just hope it would stop sometime but it doesn't seem so

I think there's much more subjects that should be publicized regarding money loss in Switzerland ie. Losses of banks doing risky businesses, the amount of useless works being done on infrastructure (absolutely not needed), subventions for useless associations that does nothing at all apart from taking drugs all day and taking this money as salaries, paying un employment for people who live on working 12 months then quite for 2 years and keep going on like this forever (Yes, this is a sad fact and it's happening alot here from the Switzerland)

I don't care what the "campaign" may turn out to be.

Publicity is no excuse for degrading anybody.

It isn't just insulting and tasteless, it's the slippery slope towards the end always justifies the means.

Hasn't anybody learnt anything in the past few wars/half century or so?

Not the Swiss i guess

That poster wording sounds realy bad. But maybe, dont you think ...... it could be sort-of referring to the types of people I`ve gotten to hear about ..... quite a few of them even in my small locale.......

The couple who arrived 12 years ago with their son, the dad got work on a building site (no speak local language) - the heavy work load injured his back and he retired on workman compensation.

Now, no problem there - but the guy goes on to produce another 2 babies, (okay, so he doesnt need his back to do That, although it does prove he is still capable of doing Something!) AND buy a BMW. No-one in the family works gainfully, except the oldest son who did his Lehr here. The wife doesnt work because she still does not speak any german, despite the language courses the Gemeinder pay for her to go on, and also for their Krankenkasse, Dental and Optical costs.

There are many more like this. Many many more. They should, imo, be sent back to their own countries to retire, neh?

Its these freeloaders who are eating up the economy. imo.

You are just continuing the dubiously provocative theme to encourage discussion here, right?

More accurately, 'no god' campaign. It was an outdoor advertising campaign (posters on buses) conducted by the UK's Atheist Campaign (sponsored by the British Humanist Association) earlier this year. It was also backed by that Professor Dawkins, who has featured so often here on EF.

Here's the poster:

(This campaign didn't end up morphing into something else -- it was as it seemed.)

You know...

Ok yes, there are unfortunally number of people who take advantage of social benefits, and frankly I don't know what bothers me more, people like that or people who discriminate disabled people.

There are a lot of disabled people who really needs financial help from the government, and I highly doubt that the average 'John Smith' knows how expensive it is actually to be disabled, or to have a disabled child in the family. All that 'special things' and special help they need cost fortune. My little sister is disabled, so I know for sure how hard it is.

Don't really have time to write everything I would like to say about this topic, except my reaction to this VERY un-tasteful ad is ewww ...

i dont know how many of you can read GERMAN and UNDERSTAND 20MINUTES report about those posters? this campaign I.S. N.O.T. M.E.A.N.T. T.O. I.N.S.U.L.T. D.I.S.A.B.L.E.D. P.E.O.P.L.E.!!

this campaign flan-in-the-face-like shall remember us about barriers that still exist against disabled people. yes, maybe a harsh way to kick off a debate or whatever...

No, I can't read German (yet). If what you say above is correct, that's good news. But until this campaign unfolds, the following still holds true:

Funny what you miss when you don't read/speak the language. Interesting commentary about Switzerland (or at least Zurich) if there is confusion as to the intention of the campaign - satire or call to arms?

A country which only has 7,6% VAT still has something in reserve. Even if leftists and rightists at present vehemently oppose any rise of the VAT rate(s), there will have to be a rise to some 12% (plus 4,4%).

Obvious however is that a more provocative style gradually gets through in all political-social-economic debates. While I agree that these new posters are in bad taste, they possibly reflect the "Zeitgeist", even if not really "geist-reich".

When I saw it this morning, it became crystal clear to me: the ads are there to promote this advertising agency which posted them: They certainly must be (heavily) mentally disabled to come out with such tasteless campaign, hence they are talking about themselves. Anyone else would never initiate such thing.

sorry, but this type of campaign is over. why should apg again do repeat the ali kebap mystery campaign? the last quarter of the year is a busy one in terms of booking such billboards and not a summer gap.

to me is crystal clear that you dont speak/understand german. in the 20mins text you can figure out what this campaign is about...if you can read german.
