We plan to move with my family to Zurich by next month, having a Job offer there.
I am a non-EU, and employer ( consulting company) applied for my permit and family reunion ( wife and 2 kids ) all at the same time. Received my approval letter this week but no news on the family reunion. Obviously we would prefer to travel all together and reading through the forum it seems that we did follow the right path for this. Any idea how often is the family reunion delayed w.r.t the permit holder? should we expect many more weeks of wait? or is it a glitch for a couple of days ?

Which approval letter did you get? There are normally two approvals. First a letter from the work authorities to the migration authorities (with your employer in Cc) where they announce their decision that a quota spot should be used on you and that a permit should be approved. Then at the end of the process, when the permit as been all approved, there is an administrative document from the SEM to the Swiss embassy or consulate (again with your employer in Cc) telling them to issue you a National D Visa.
If you received the former letter, then the process is not over for you either, the cantonal and federal migration authorities still need to approve the residence permit.
Otherwise, if your permit is indeed fully approved, I'm pretty sure the family reunification is normally treated at the same time if the applications were filed together. At least ours was, as well as our renewals. I would say it's worth calling the cantonal migration office to inquire about the situation and ask what's the status of the application. They'll be able to check and help you. Sometimes something gets delayed for no particular reason and when you call them and they see it's abnormally long, they're able to "reactivate" the file so that it's treated promptly. That happened with our renewal this year, they said it was indeed weird that it hadn't even been looked at two months after we filed it, they said "I reactivated it so it should go to the top of the pile, call again in two weeks if there are no news". Two weeks later we had the permits.

I received my "zusicherung der aufenthal tsbewilligung" (assurance of the residence permit) to mu name, and since I do not need an entry visa, the process is finished for me. next step is to register once there.
Since I haven't been dealing directly with the authorities ( the consulting company did everything) I will try and push them to get the ball rolling again in case anything is hung up!

Even if your employer was dealing with the authorities (which is normal), they'll still answer you if you call and ask what the status is.
