Non-EU transiting in Heathrow airport

Hello guys,

I have seen this question asked before here, but I just want to know if someone has some updated info after Brexit and Covid mess. I am a non-EU (Indian Passport) passenger with a Swiss C permit transiting at Heathrow. Do I need a Direct Airside Transit Visa? I saw on the UK government website which says one needs no such visa if one has a common format residence permit from Switzerland. But, due to CoVid or Brexit, are they still considering a 'C' permit as a valid common format residence permit? Or should I apply for a visa to be sure just in case?

If you are staying airside in London, you do not need a visa.

If your permit (C, B, L...) is in the "common format" and you're staying airside, then no need for a visa.

I don’t think there is anything lie a ‘direct airside visa’. As you are not entering the UK, ie not going through passport control.

But listen to your airline. If they say it’s OK, then it’s OK.

Thanks.. I asked the airline (British airlines).. The response I got was "We just follow what the UK government says; so ask the government".. Not very helpful were they.

What is a "common format permit"? I do not know the definition.Could you please enlighten me?

If you have got the credit card style permit you will be fine.
