I also received a letter for my facilitated naturalization. It's a letter . Not a document, not a certificate. Mine came from the feds, as facilitated naturalization is handled a the federal level.
I am trying to learn .what are last twoc documents. As i have also received the Einburgerung Bewilliging from Bern , for which i paid to postman
when i asked city of zurich. they told me i have to wait for two more letters autmotically .... till citizenship is recorded in City of zurich.
So i am trying understand and learn what exactly these documents are called .
Thanks for your patience
In English letters, this usually appears after that salutation, as in, for example:
"Dear Sir or Madam,
Your application of DATE, Reference Number NUMBER
We are pleased to inform you...." while in German business letters this usually appears before the salutation, is in,
" Ihr Gesuch vom DATUM, Referenznummer NUMMER
Sehr geehrter Herr NAME, sehr geehrte Frau NAME,
Gerne informieren wir...." Also, perhaps it would help Koun to know from exactly which government department (with name and address) the letter would arrive.
Second document is for sure Meldebestatgung .
It would be be good to know about the First Document document . Title in german.
However the accompanying letter to the Urkunde states that this letter doesn't yet allow you to apply for an ID card or passport, but does confirm your new status will be sent to the military etc.
The last document is the invitation in person to come and pick up your Schriftenempfangschein/Meldebestätigung from your Gemeinde/Kreisbüro about 3 weeks later which in exchange for your Ausländerausweis being cancelled allow you to apply for an ID card in Kt. ZH straight away or a Passport/ID Card Kombi at the Passbüro.
If you go for the Kombi at the Passbüro ensure you get the cancelled Ausländerausweis from the Gemeinde/Kreisbüro back as the Passbüro will expect you to still have it (even if already cancelled) when you appear for the biometric capture appointment. You may need to explain this at the Gemeinde/Kreisbüro.
March 2015 - Applied in Lausanne
April 2016 - Police interview
April 2017 - Commune\Gemeinde interview
May 2017 - Confirmation of Bourgeoisie
Feb 2018 - Confirmation from Canton and documents sent to Federal level
June 2018 - Approval from Federal level and invitation to Assermentation ceremony
September 2018 - Swiss!
Thanks to all on this thread for their journeys, but mine felt particularly long. After 3.5 years, elated but exhausted. Good luck to everyone in the process.
Cheers
Let me share my story that hopefully can be helpful to some of you. This is my timeline in Kanton Zurich, city of Dietikon
Late February 2017 - sent the required documents to Gemeindeamt Zurich One month later received confirmation (per post) that my application is with the Gemeinde (city of Dietikon) and that they will contact me sometime in the future January 2018 received invitation to do German and naturalization tests together with a bill (3 tests -2 German one natural.; each costs 180 CHF) that has to be paid in order to be admitted to the exams 23/24.02.2018 all test in two days 06.03.2018 received results by mail (all good) week later received invitation to meet with a delegation of the Stadtrat and was asked to provide my payroll for the last 6 months 27.03.2018 had very pleasant conversation with members of the Stadtrat - was asked why I want to become Swiss, what is my profession, etc, very easy and friendly conversation End of April received letter from the Gemeinde that we are granted the local citizenship together with a bill of 1'500 CHF 23.05.2018 Kanton Zurich granted the cantonal citizenship with a bill of 500 CHF. My application was sent by the Gemeindeamt Zurich to SEM Bern 24.09.2018 received the famous letter from SEM (paid 115 CHF to pick it up from the post office, as I missed the post guy) 25.09.2018 I sent the Einbürgerungsbewilligung für den Kanton Zürich together with a copy of the payments of the Gemeinde and Konton fees to Gemeindeamt Zurich 09.10.2018 received a letter from the Gemeindeamt that we are Swiss Next is the Meldebestätigung from the Gemeinde and only then we can apply for the passport. This is now just formality and I guess it will be in the coming days.
Hope my post helps those who applied somewhere in Canton Zurich and are waiting, and wondering how long it takes. Of course each application is individual and depends on many factors, but I guess there are certain similarities in the timing. By the way it seems that Gemeindeamt Zurich send their mails only Mondays and you get them in your postbox on Tuesday.
Did it happen to you too? Tks.
Yes, at the end of the interview I was told that I am well integrated and that they will recommend the city council to vote positively. After a month I got then the letter with for the gemeinde einbürgerung. If you have positive feedback, than it is just a formality.
So the council approval is part of the process, but the most important one is the interview that you have already passed.
All the best
I also live in Dübendorf, I started the process in February 2018. My partner is Swiss (but we are not married) and we have a child (soon 16 years old, Swiss citizen as well).
-Feb 2018- I sent all papers to Gemeindeamt ZH
-April 2018 - I had the test about Switzerland and Kt. ZH (German certificate B1 I have since 2005)
-September 2018 - I had the interview with Stadtrat - 2 people from 7 (one was the city president) plus one from Einbürgerung (they asked questions about the city and few about me, I learned too much for this interview; it was planned for 30 minutes, after 15 minutes I finished it)- they told me that they need to decide at the next meeting which they have and if it will be positive, I'll be invited by Gemeinderat for the last interview (this is only to know each other); next day I wrote to the lady from Einbürgerung and asked how much time it takes until I receive the info regarding the next interview; she told me that my interview was successful and the secretary from Gemeinderat will inform me, when she knows exactly, but it will be in February or March this year...I asked again in November and she wrote me that I'm planned for February..in December I received the invitation.
Dübendorf is special, we have 2 interviews at Gemeinde.
The city president told me that he thinks that I'll receive the citizenship in September this year.
I'll keep you posted.
Judging by the timescales quoted here, it looks like I’m not at imminent risk of interview in the next month, so plenty of time for geopgraphy/history/political/language brush-up homework.
I went to see Zwingli @Kosmos last weekend as part of this, which was interesting, but despit the internet posting on Kineman listing it DE there, it was in Schwyzerdoooootsch... 🙄
Has anyone already received the Swiss Nationality in Geneva with the new procedure?
I passed the interview at the beginning of January. I was wondering how long it takes before getting the final confirmation.
2017 Feb - ok to apply.
2017 Feb - Aug - paperwork collection, exams etc.
2017 Sep - file accepted.
2017 Oct - 1st interview.
2018 Mar - final interview.
2018 Aug - ceremony.
2018 Oct - ID and passport.
New system has fewer applicants so procedure itself should take less time.
- DM
I got some general questions about Swiss history, geography, politics. I did not get any "study guide".
Here is my timeline, the new procedure in the Canton of Vaud.
- February 2018 - application sent to Canton of Vaud, for a family of four,
- March 2018 - Canton responded, asked for some additional documents (civil status related),
- September 2018 - First part of cantonal procedure completed with success, the file transferred to the municipality - charged 550 CHF,
- November 2018 - interview in the municipality (representative of the administration and a member of local parliament) - charged 400 CHF,
- December 2018 - written test passed in the municipality (only me and the wife, no kids under 16, thank you Canton de Vaud!),
- end of December 2018 - positive decision from the municipality, the file sent back to the Canton for executive council decision,
- January 2019 - Canton suggested positive decision and announced the transfer to the Federation for approval,
- March 2019 - Federal administration received the file and charged 150 CHF for processing (in advance).
This is it so far. I will update when I get more. What remains, under condition that the federal decision is positive, is the final records check by the Canton, and the final cantonal decision on the Citizenship, with the date to swear the oath. Hoping for the best and the soonest possible.
