It's so nice to find a very useful group like this.(and updated) I am a registered nurse from the Philippines and sehr gerne möchte ich in der Schweiz arbeiten. (need to practice my deutsch )I already did the first stage (obligatorishe Vorprüfung)for the recognition of my diploma with schweizerisches rotes Kreuz and received their initial decision. As per their decision, my diploma can be recognized (niveau HF).but the problem is i am still here in my country and they required me to have aufenthaltsbewilligung (b/c/f oder g).Honestly, i desperately need some advice on how i am going to make it through and desperately doing the best i can. I dont want to give up this dream of mine to go to switzerland. How am i going to get aufenthaltsbewilligung?i tried to send my applications to different institution including agencies but to no avail, i didnt receive any positive answers. There are some who are willing to help me but need some clarification with SRK. I mean, is it possible to do some training/or apprenticeships?Can you share your own experiences to enlighten and motivate me. I really appreciate your answers. As for my deutsch, i have passed only B1 but will sit for an exam soon. Is it also possible to take b2 in Switzerland.

I wish I could offer you a solid suggestion, but I don't know my way around the system. My situation is different. I was married to a German and have my unbefrisstet Aufenthalterlaubnis for Germany, so things are different for me. I have pasted a link that I found, its in German and might be hard to read it all. But I have a feeling that if anyone knew some of the loop holes it could be someone like this. I wish you luck and persistance. If its what you want, don't give up. I see it also for myself as one step forward, two back at times. Most of the good things in life are never easy

Welcome to the Forum, ichbinphilippinisch. Don't worry about trying to type German here. We're all English speakers.

It's good you're working on German and having your qualifications verified if you want to come here. Your biggest hurdle is that as a non-Swiss or EU person, an employer has to sponsor you for your work permit. That means they have to prove to the authorities they could not find a Swiss or EU person to do the job. It's not impossible, but it is a challenge.

As 3Wishes says, it’s very difficult for a non-EU person to get a job here and for medical staff it can be even harder. Not only do your qualifications have to be recognised, but you must have a very high level of written and oral language skills in at least 1 of Switzerland’s 4 official languages. This is what any employer here would have to do to be able to possibly hire you:

You seem to be in a catch-22 situation of trying to get your qualifications recognised, but they need you to be in the country to do so yet you can’t get a job without the recognition being done. Unfortunately, the only way out of it that I can see is that you need to get a non-medical job here somehow, then once you are in the country you should be able to get the qualification recogition sorted out. But of course, that is even more difficult if you have no other qualifications which would make you desirable to the Swiss market.

If you can find an area of nursing where Switzerland has a staff shortage then you might be more successful. But I think you need to be looking at this longer term, by improving your German skills to a much higher level before trying for jobs.

I saw your message, I am from Switzerland, I am also a Nurse , If you want to work in Switzerland, First you must be a Citizen of a European Country or USA , Canada ; Australia. If you are an Indian Citizen, you can not work in Switzerland,If you are an Indian Citizen and you are married with a Swiss National, Then you are elegible to work in Swiss, Then you have to Pass German B2 Level exams and other Nursing Exams prescribed by the Swiss Red cross to get a Nursing Registration in Switzerland. Hope you have got an idea .

Again, totally wrong. What counts is not your nationality, but whether your qualifications can/will be recognised here and whether you speak and write a Swiss language fluently. If an Indian national can meet those requirements they’re just as hireable as any other non-EU.

I was an American citizen and had to become German(which was easy in my case) to even open up a bank account here. I have no B2 certificate but a B1 and this was accepted due to my ability to speak and understand high German very well. The Swiss German can be learned with time. I received my Swiss Annerkennung without a problem, it cost over a thousand Franks. So with persistance it all worked out. I think the whole process is confusing of course, for each one of us its a little different. There are varying ways to get through the door.....

Quick answer for you. I contacted a nursing recruitor in DE as I was living there. I can give you his Name.....Udo Heran, Pflegejobvermittler. Easy to find on Google. He made the process easier in any case since he lives in Switzerland, came from Berlin I believe. There are probably lots out there to help get your feet on the ground somewhere. I know its hard to know where to start.....

The Job he arranged for me was not the one I really wanted, but it was a start in the right direction.

Until your qualifications are recongised by the Swiss Red Cross it will be a long time. Get that done first, yes it will take several months and several hundred francs too.
