Hi tdbrock - congrats with passing the test!
Curious about the absence of interview - is it a change of the process in the Stadt ZĂźrich? Mine should be coming up in 1-2 months, need to be prepared
Hey Folks, I had my interview on Friday in Basel kanton and i got positive confirmation. Many thanks for all of your help.
Feel free to reach out to me if anyone wants to know about Basel journey.
Thanks
Itâs seems that some people have to do an interview and some donât. Iâm not sure if there is a specific set of criteria that determines which but, if your invitation letter only mentions a test and not an interview in addition, i think itâs safe to assume that you wonât have an interview. Good luck.
@shadow-walker My timeline in the city of Zurich is very similar to yours and to that of @tdbrock.
In previous cases, it seems that the bill for the City of Zurich was included in the same letter with the approval from Stadtrat, however currently it seems that the bill for the city is issued by the Canton and particularly from the Gemeindeamt (or at least my understanding was that the situation was different in the past).
- Have you received the bill from the Gemeindeamt?
- Was the status in the online system changed from âPrĂźfung Gemeindeâ to âPrĂźfung Kantonâ?
- Have you received any letter from the Canton that they received your application?
My timelines so far in stadt Zurich
Applied - Dec 2022
Interview - Dec 2023
Confirmation Gemeinede: Dec 2023
Acknowledgement from Kanton : Jan 2024
Confirmation from Kanton ; May 2024
Bill from SEM : June 2024
Confirmation from Gemenide that they got confirmation from SEM : Sep 2024
so, it took more than 4 months for SEM confirmation. It seems in my case every step takes longer than others. I am hoping i dont have to wait for 6 months to get final confirmation from Gemeinde.
Hi Silvano
Regarding your questions:
- Have you received the bill from the Gemeindeamt? â> No, I didnât receive a bill yet.
- Was the status in the online system changed from âPrĂźfung Gemeindeâ to âPrĂźfung Kantonâ? â> My application status is still âPrĂźfung Gemeindeâ
- Have you received any letter from the Canton that they received your application? â> No, I didnât receive a letter from Kanton either.
I think there may be a difference in the process depending on whether you submitted your application before or after the new law took effect in July 2023. I was told that we would only receive the Stadt ZĂźrich bill once the Gemeindamt (Kanton) had approved as well. From reading some of the earlier posts from people who applied before July 2023, I get impression that the gemeinde level bill would come directly after gemeinde interview/test.
Thanks for the timeline you shared. Mine is bit similar to yours. i applied in the begining of may 2023 but recieved the SEM Bill in the first week of July 2024 and i am still waiting for my reply from SEM. Great that you recieved yours. Now its just a waiting game. and you will definitely have your passport and ID before the end of year.
Hi all,
Currently applied for naturalization for the family of 3. Our document is with geminde awaiting the call for grundkentnisse test and interview.
Meanwhile my wife lost her job this month. Does applying for RAV will reduce the chances? As she will be getting social benefit. Accordingly we have to decide whether to apply for RAV are not.
Thanks and kind regards
M
RAV is not a social benefit. It is insurance.
They will ask you during the interview if something changed in your financial situation or job. However I am not sure it plays a role, she could still be housewife and this would make no difference. I would say apply for it but I am not an expert. The process is long and you can easily end-up burning out all your savings for something playing not a role. I wish she will get soon a new job!
RAV is not an issue. Kt ZH criteria explicitly states you can cover your living costs using âArbeitslosentaggelderâ. You may however be obliged to inform them of any change in circumstances, not sure of the rules here, but the Stadt Kanzlei can probably clarify. Kontakt und Beratung - Stadt ZĂźrich
I got my Gemeinde approval yesterday. Iâm waiting to receive the bill from the Gemeinde but it looks like itâs progess. My timeline currently stands as follows:
End 11/23 - Application submitted
Early 2/24 - Status switched to VorprĂźfung (Pre-Check)
Late 4/24 - Application sent to Gemeinde
Early 8/24 - Invitation to Grundkenntnisstest received.
Mid 9/24 - Grundkenntnisstest (no interview)
End 9/24 - Gemeinde Approval (still waiting to receive invoice)
Living in Bern since 2010, not married no kids, and here is my timeline for the ordinary naturalisation process in Stadt Bern:
- 15.01.2024 â First meeting (Beratungsgespräch), received the list of required documents.
- 15.02.2024 â Submitted the application for ordinary naturalization (Gesuch um ordentliche EinbĂźrgerung).
- 11.04.2024 â Received a letter requesting additional documents (pay slips, confirmation from the employer).
- 16.07.2024 â Commune interview (Gemeindegespäch) (400 CHF paid).
- 30.09.2024 â Confirmation of Bern city citizenship (Zusicherung des BĂźrgerrechts der Stadt Bern) and received the invoice for the Canton of Bern fee (1,150 CHF paid).
I received the SEM bill at the end of August, since then Iâm waiting and havenât heard back. Iâm getting used to it by now
I am waiting too since the begining of July and this waiting game is stressing me out.
Finally it is time to post my timeline:
Some details concerning my application. I hold an EU passport of one of the first EU members. I studied in Switzerland. My native language is not one of the four official languages in Switzerland. I applied online before the July 23 with the old law in the city of Zurich, hence I neither had to prove Grundkenntnisse, nor had an interview. When I applied I already had the language requirement certificate. I applied together with my kid which was in the kindergarten during the time of the application. My kid holds the same passport as I do. The end-to-end process duration was 18 months and the time interval between each step was between 3-5 months, with a small exception the Gemeinde approval, which was very fast in my case, this step took less than a month. When new documents were requested, I provided them within a week. All invoices received were paid immediately.
- Applied end of April 2023
- 3 months later. Beginning of July 2023 the Kanton requested more documents
- 2 weeks later. Mid of July 2023 the status changed to VorprĂźfung
- 4 months later. Mid of November 2023 the status changed to Gemeinde PrĂźfung
- 2 weeks later in December 2023 the status changed to Kanton PrĂźfung
- 3 months later. Beginning of February 2024 the status changed to Bund PrĂźfung
- 4 months later. Early of July 2024 the status changed to schlussprĂźfung
- 3 months later. Early on October 2024 I received the final confirmation letter stating that my kid and I are Swiss and can schedule appointment for IDs in approximately 3 weeks. The online status still appears schlussprĂźfung.
It is a long process where one has to be very patient. Good luck to all the ones in the pipeline and the ones to star soon. Be patient and remember, no news, good news.
Can you tell me if the initials you have is similar to mine SEM Bill. ( the one in red circle). I applied similar to u in the first week of May 2023 and am still in the process Bund PrĂźfung. Waiting now over 3 months. The reason I am asking is these 4 letter / 3 letters shows the area where the documents are handled and processed. I am bit worried why many from the same city and similar timeline has done with or almost at end of the process.
Thank you in advance.
What happens to the child being born at the end of the naturalization process?
Can it be included in the application or it will need to wait for facilitated naturalization just because it will have been born a few days before the naturalization of the parent?
In a similar case of a friend the new born was included
