The madness and dangers of 'smart motorways, without emergency lane and warning technology that doesn't work, fewer and fewer traffic cops and the vast majority of speed cameras that no longer work, so switched off, hardly any alcohol or drug testing, and on and on = a significant rise in last few years in accidents, casualties and deaths. Surprised though they did mention use of phones and other devices, though.
It was clear in the OP, Panorama! Should have mentionned BBC 1 UK TV. Posted in haste as the programme was starting and the footage of accidents linked to 'smart' motorways was shocking. Taking away safety lanes was supposed to be done at the same time as the introduction of technology, cameras and warning signs- which never worked. Cars that have to stop in inside lane often can't be seen due to lorries, and people driving too fast, too close. We were in the UK recently and found these terrifying.
