Parcel Forwarding service UK

Hi all

Firstly, I am not sure if this query fits in this section. If not, please feel free to move it to the right section.

I am looking to order a specific pushchair travel system from mothercare.com. The problem is that, mothercare do not do international shipping on this particular item. So I checked for some parcel forwarding services in the UK. A quick google search showed me 2 options. Borderlinx and forward2me .

Have any of you used the above 2 services before? If yes, how was your experience.

Have you used another such service? If so, then which one and how was your experience.

Your replies are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Something odd, when I clicked on your 2 links, it opened the same item.

Whoever you use, be aware of what the additional charges will be, as item including post more than chf66.00.

Have noticed stories here on EF of people getting a bill after the item has arrived, the amount is X for the tax and anything between 20 to 100 for the non-refundable Admin charge.

Thanks for pointing it out. The correct link is https://www.forward2me.com/

I am aware of the administration charges. Its just that I have not used such services before. Their facebook page has a lot of likes and posts from satisfied customers as well.

I will get in touch with them and see what they can do for me.

I haven't used either, but I have used a similar service by Bongo. They have a US and a European service. The charges are very clear upfront and the tracking tool is great.

Hi, as I'm also looking into using a UK parcel-forwarding service, I was wondering which one did you end up using in the end? Would love to hear some first-hand feedback.. thanks

Hi el7777,

I checked the cost for both the services and at the end i was paying more than the actual product i wanted to order. I ended up ordering it from a French website instead. So, i cannot tell you anything about any of the them, sorry. ☺

Hi, in case this may be useful for someone else. I've now tried parcel forwarding service from forward2me, and it worked very well. I got an e-mail from forward2me within an hour of my parcel being delivered to them and they shipped it on to me a couple of hours after my payment. It seems the cheapest DHL tariff for parcels to Switzerland is just under GBP30, so one needs to consider if it's worth it. It's useful to get the weight and measurements of your package from the seller before buying it to calculate how much the forwarding service would cost.

As I live in near Zurich, I am using the Swiss Paket services ( www.swiss-paket.de )

They give you an address for free, where you can buy things from all over Europe and ship it there. Then we receive an email whenever a package arrives so we can go and pick it up at the store.

I have been using this service and purchased things from: France, UK and Germany without any issues. Regarding the size or cost of the products we have purchased, we got from cheap 10 euros things to 2500 euros double decker bed for my nephew which was half the cost than in Switzerland (exactly same product).

They charge you per package for relative small packages its around 3 Euros, so its really worth it if you save a lot of money on the article you have purchased.

What I usually do before I take a decision to buy something of more than 50 bucks is to check the price at TopPreise.ch then look for the same article at Amazon.de and use the price I see as a reference, if the difference is too high I just buy it on Amazon.de and then make it ship to my address in Germany.

On this post, I explain how the process works to recover the TAX from Amazon.de

getting back VAT, buying from amazon.de

Hope this helps you!

Best regards!

Fernando
