I have coming through some of the post related to partnership visa but some things have got confused to me and I hope you can help me with my specific situation:
I am an EU citizen living in ZH with B permit which has a non-EU partner which lives in another EU country (We are not married or anything similar).
Reading some of the posts it seems that there are some cantons which allows registered partnership for couples of opposite sex, but then it also varies from canton to canton, if the spouse can work with the partnership visa. My questions are:
- Do you know which cantons allows civil registration/partnership visa without marriage for couples of opposite sex?
- Do you know which cantons allow the spouse to work with the partnership visa?
Also any experiences on this regard would be much of help.

I think you mean the concubine permit since you say you’re not married or anything similar - civil registration/partnership is effectively a marriage.
Zurich is one of the cantons that does have the concubine permit. To apply for it you need to show you’re in a long term relationship (which ideally will lead to marriage) and you will have to be financially responsible for your partner for 5 years. They may or may not be allowed to work - that is something you’d have to check with the cantonal migration office as it does seem to vary depending on both the canton and the nationalities of the applicants.

TL;DR
Possible, but there are high hurdles and you essentially have to marry your partner in the near future.
