The numbers will never add up. The only way I can imagine a landlord accepting CC as payment is if there is low demand for rented property. So I expect is fine in some other countries. But I think that everyone can agree that demand is high in Switzerland.
What about a service provider does this instead of the landlord. Then the landlord will not lose anything so that they would not have to raise the rent.
http://www.toppreise.ch/shop_459.htm...65221&a=274003 For example, microspot.ch is charging 2.5% extra for CC payments, not 5%. I am sure they have some extra profit in this as well.
If you reach a certain number in your customer base, why not to get a better deal? 1000 customers with an average of 2000 franks monthly rent gives you a base of 2million franks monthly. I don't know microspot's turnover, but this initial number tells me that the numbers may add up.
For this too work the value of you airmiles would have to be more that what the CC is charging for the transaction. This hypothetical service provider would have to get a good deal with the CC company, remember that they would need to charge you to cover this cost and to make a profit.
So if your airmiles are worth more than the 2.5% from the service then this might just work. But is probably not possible and maybe not legal
Ok let me tell you where I'm at...
I'M OUT!
Thank you JoMiFa. With this we come back to my original question; is there a service provider in Switzerland that I can use to pay my rent with my credit card?
cheers mate, we got that a while back.
Luckily, 190,000,000 search results in Google tells me that not everybody thinks the same as you.
What are you trying to do mate? I am trying to be polite, but you are pushing my limits.
You don't like the idea, then bugger off. Don't put your dirt in to the thread.
I bet someone will start another thread about trying to pay credit card bills with a credit card, lol.
If you can get one of these "service provider"s to do this and get your landlord to accept (or do it without Landlord knowing) AND the fees are less than the value of the flights....
You will be lucky if you break even.
Fly home with Easjet instead. You wont have to challenege yourself to spend 10s of thousands of pounds per year to get an extra "free" flight.
Just trying to tell you it doesn't exist, but you don't seem to get it!
What you're talking about is free money, free money doesn't exist! Get it?!?!
Thanks,
In terms of the cost, this is a payment I have to make every month anyways. My initial idea was why not to benefit from that.
Also, I am not attached to any airline,of course I can use my miles for easyjet as well and it is the beauty of it.
Even though there are several service providers in US,etc., I could not locate one in CH. It is a shame though, it would have been nice to have it.
That at least I could maybe understand! It's called balance transfers and credit card companies do it / used to do it for a small upfront fee and the potential to earn a good rate from the borrower.
I think you'd find that the fee _far_ outweighs the value of any air miles you earn on the transaction.
I can only echo what Love Doctor says. Free money doesnot exist. CC companies are not daft they will alway make profit.
On a side note. What credit card do you have? I would love to collect airmiles for easyjet.
Just think about it. All those freebies the CC company is giving you. Are they giving those to you because out of the goodness of their hearts the stockholders are agreeing to less profit, or is the CC charge (footed by the trader) paying for that?
All of these schemes are ultimately being payed for by the customer. Be they Cumulus or air miles. They are basically an insult to the customers who don't have them as the message is clear that they are being overcharged so that the shop can give away this feel good stuff.
So maybe if you go back to your landlord and ask him if you can pay by CC and in return he can increase the rent by 5%, he might be more positively inclined.
Unfortunately, it is not from Switzerland.
On the other subject, I disagree free money does exist, but not for all. The real question is who pays the cost. For example, you buy shares of a company today from 10dolars and tomorrow lets say you sell it for 12 minus 1 dollar transaction fee and you make a pure profit of 1 dollar. So what makes it not free?
That's not free money. That's a profit on a risk you took. You might just as easily have lost 2 dollars.
When I don't pay it with CC, are they any cheaper? no. so why not benefit from that.
