I am living with my wife who works at CERN. I have my CDL and also the attestation to get Permis Ci. I have a job offer from an IT company in Geneva. Can anyone here guide me through the process of getting the Ci permit? There is a bit of confusion in the process. Do I have to go to the OCPM Geneva office and submit the application there or should it be sent by mail?
I think they are overwhelmed right now, so you might have better luck showing up in person. You can take a folder containing any document they might need. That way you don't have to send things piecemeal by post and wait for communication back and forth.
Thank you, everyone, for your reply. I did go to OCPM but they said I should send the application by post. I have sent my documents by post and now waiting for the Permit. I hope I get it soon.
I'm just going through the same process and have submitted the forms. Can you say how long it took between posting the documents to OCPM and receiving your Ci permit.
My sister did the process a year ago in Vaud. It took about 1 month for her to receive the Ci. OCPM may be slower though.
However, she's been told that she had the right to work directly after submitting the documents, as soon as they contain "l'attestation stipulant que vous n'êtes pas soumis aux contingents sur la main d'œuvre étrangère".
