If one is currently unemployed and receiving insurance payments from the ALK what are the rules in the following situations?
a) UK national, living over 10 years in CH with B permit and wants to renew
b) UK national, living over 10 years in CH with B permit and wants to upgrade to C permit (assuming language qualifications, no debt register or criminal record entries etc)
c) UK national, living 15 years in CH, of which 10 in the Gemeinde with C permit wants to renew
For bonus points
d) UK national, living 14 years in CH, of which 9 in the Gemeinde with C permit risks losing job and wants to start the process to naturalise (assuming language qualifications, no debt register or criminal record entries etc)
I think the answers to a) and c) are one can. Not sure about b) and d)

In Neuchâtel at least option b is also possible as long as one meets the language requirements.

AFAIK, many folks have started their naturalisation process while looking for jobs i.e. unemployed.....anecdotal evidence indicates that it does not pose a roadblock....but be prepared to get that question and have a meaningful answer to this....note that being on RAV is NOT equivalent to availing Social Benefits.....
Person d has had 4 years to naturalize. Why the sudden rush now?
When we were asked why we'd taken eight years to start the naturalisation process, we explained it was because it wasn't until now we were confident enough in our German.
