The origin story (the real one, not the faux one) of Black Friday stems from 'black is bad'. This is similar to the names given to various market crashes (Black Friday, Dirty Tuesday, etc).
'Black is bad' is very old and we see it in various ancient cultures where it's associated with death, evil, the underworld and so on. Interestingly, though, not in ancient Egypt where black was good because it was the colour of the life-giving Nile sediment; the Egpytians called the Nile the Black River ('Ar').
Going back to prehistory and hand-waving a lot, black was bad probably because dark environments were dangerous (night, dark cave, thunderstorms, etc). It probably wasn't connected with dark skin originally, but was a handy bolt-on meme to confirm racial biases after the fact.
