Personally, I would avoid the Pixel. I've been a fan of the Nexus series of phones and then switched to Pixel including 3 different versions of the pixels. All 3 developed hardware problems which made them unusable (first proximity sensor failure, which made it impossible to use phone when calls came in as touchscreen would be turned off; second - i can't remember the precise hardware failure, but it prevented receiving calls; third was loudspeaker failure which meant that no incoming calls would be heard and no audio for video calls). finally i gave up and went with a samsung phone - i'd prefer to have a 'clean OS' but more importantly is a working phone).
I was a fan of Nexus too , then switched to one plus during the pixel time
its a shame that both the Nexus line and One plus these days too have lost their value equation
Samsung seems to be the last standing player
I got tempted back to pixel due to their Tensor chip and voice typing
I do quite a bit of voice typing which is prone to spelliing mistakes and errors on my 1+6 , was hoping i will have a better shot with pixel 6a ( read a lot about the h/w issues and bugs on pixel 6)
I have the original pixel. pixel 2 xl and then the pixel 4a (bought for parents). last 2 were bought at same time (all from digitec) and both failed within a year which made me give up on the pixel line.
It will take a while for Pixel to arrive in Switzerland. Pixel 4a was announced in August 2020, and it didn't really show up in Switzerland until December. Digitec started taking pre-orders with an expected start of deliveries in mid-October which was later delayed. I ended up making a pre-order at Digitec in November with an expected delivery date in January, but the phone arrived in mid-December. I don't remember when the phone was officially in stock - they were getting partial shipments and fulfilling pre-orders first.
I have been using Pixel 4a since December 2020 and I have not experienced any issues so far. Previously I had Moto G and Xiaomi Mi A1 - both budget phones with relatively "clean" Android OS. Pixel feels like a decent upgrade and while both Motorola's and Xiaomi's phone lines decreased in quality or were discontinued, at the moment I expect to own another Pixel in the future.
It's a shame that the Android One program did not work out as expected.
When I last checked it was possible to preorder at digictec/galaxus and they should apparently become available (sale start - whatever that means) on 10th of August.
